Hey guys. I know a few of you are interested in getting larger diameter rear swaybars for your first gen Q's. Well while I was getting my active suspension conversion done, I had a local shop custom fabricate a 22mm rear swaybar so if anyone's interested I have one active suspension swaybar for sale and I have a few 22mm bars available. I needed to place an order of at least 10 (otherwise they shop said it would've been a no-go).

The cornering is great with a 22mm bar. The difference was noticeable even coming from a 20mm active bar. Between the 15mm bar the difference is night and day. Well anyway, I do have a few up for grabs and they're still cheaper than the $240 Infiniti of Scottsdale wants for each. If anyone's interested, email me at [email protected].

The 22 mm rear bar should be 80-85 lb/inches [roughly double the active bar] at the wheel better than the 24 mm [122 lb/in] Stillen bar which is no longer available.

Roughly a 50-60% increase in rear stiffness, you will need the rear Tokico Blues to help control it. Instead of a maximum 4" roll [no rear bar] you would be down to 2.44" at the max g vs a 20 mm's 3"

This might be the perfect bar if you have a standard Q and don't want to go thru the process of down sizing your front bar from 29 to 28 mm as used on the t and active cars.

The 20 mm is hard to get stiff enough [urethane] and the 24 mm bar is hard to get soft enough [rubber bushings] .

With a 29mm front and a 22mm rear [assumming 100% coupling efficiency] you would still have a 59-60% front roll couple bias so in dry you would still have a 5-7% understeer vs 30% stock at 0.7G................these numbers are rough but within 5% error so even with bad front bar bushings the worst would be neutral dry steering at the limit.

No bar can be coupled at 100% [unless welded in place] even with urethane as the end link angle changes even over +- 1.0"......so there is probably another 10% safety above my calculations.

Hey if people have destroyed themselves with a 24 mm solid rear bar and Stillen sold over 50 [we have 9 customers with them for years] sounds like a deal to me!

Just a heads up,

I only have 4 bars left with 4 Energy Suspension endlinks complete with link and swaybar bushings. Over the past week I did a lot of car-car salesman duty at the car wash and convinced a few Q45 owners to upgrade to the 22mm bar (well a test drive in my car won themover). If anyone's still interested, it's $235 for the entire swaybar/endlinks/urethane bushings kit. Not a bad price at all, especially considering the difference in handling. :D :ylsuper
