I don't want a really loud one, just a "nice" sound. What sounds nice?

And suggestions?

Thanks

Go with a Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust (with a test pipe). You will jizz your pants out of excitement while driving.

Most catbacks with a full resonator will be decently quiet.

the brm ones look clean. i'm using a HKS hi-power on a ka24de stock and it has a mellow and deep tone. at 3k+ it gets kinda loud but still no rasp. it might not be what you're looking for just an option

The exhaust doesn't make you obnoxious, your driving does. As long as you drive like a intelligent person, any cat-back system will sound fine. At least on a KA.

my friend had a Motoria 3" Catback on his S14 KA and i hated it. WAY too loud and obnoxious even with conservative driving.

I can second that. I have a 3 inch motoria on my SR S14 and while it sounds good at idle it has some weird resonant frequencies that just sound like crap and higher revs and make the car shake like Chile.

How much are you planning to spend? and do you want a cat back or just a muffler thats better than stock.

For less than 30 bucks you can get a Cherry Bomb Turbo Muffler (not a glasspack!) and replace your stock exhaust. It'll sound 95% as quiet as stock at idle, and just get a little bit louder(never raspy) when you smash the throttle. Will it sound as sexy as a decent catback system? nope...but you will thank yourself for it whenever a cop stops you and the last thing you want is to call more attention with a loud exhaust

Greddy PE II, Greddy TI-C (the one that looks like the evo tt), and the apexi noir.

I've owned the first two, and they are two of the quieter sounding exhausts out there.

Megan 2.5" cat back isn't terrible. Sounds throaty and doesn't have a buzz at high revs. It's pretty decent on the high way as well.

sure, it's piping with a magnaflow muffler, but guess what, EVERY exhaust is just piping with a muffler. get off your high horse, just because it doesn't meet your elitist standards and isn't stamped with "psm" or "pbm", or whatever it's called these days, doesn't mean it's not well made or effective.

i personally love the way a HKS hi-power sounds but it's a little to loud for me... and i don't like the way the big can style mufflers look on stock bodied s-chassis.

so thats why i went with a Megan OE Type 2. car is real quiet but sounds awesome when you start ramping it up.
