I've been throwing all kinds of parts at the car trying to fix the overheating problem and I've finally noticed that the auxilerry fan is not spinning.. I'm not sure what needs to be replaced but I know with it not spinning that is more than likely the problem with it. I've checked with most of the auto parts stores around here and they don't sell the fan motor.. my friend ganked a fan motor out of a nissan altima and tried to make it work, it worked for less than a day and now it's back to overheating again. Any advice on how to fix this withough having to pay the heavily inflated prices at a dealership?

I don't know too much as I'm still a noob, but did you check the head gasket? If the fan motor from the Altima failed you in less than a day, then perhaps you should try to find a motor off a 240 and use that instead. I'm not sure if the fan motor is the complete problem as there could be other things as well. But I say try another fan motor and see what will happen again. Hope this helps! BUMP!! BIG BUMPP!!

Try a new radiator? Try a new thermostat? Try changing the coolant?

Have you bled the cooling system? It could just be an air bubble getting stuck in the system.

The first thing I replaced was the thermostat, let as much coolant as I could drain out and replace the coolant and then bled the system.. seems like a few hours after i replaced that it did well then started overheating the next day. After I replaced the fan motor (junk yard I was at only had Altimas, no 240s) it worked for a day and the next it started overheating again. But I've sat and watched for almost 20 minutes waiting for the fan to cut on and it doesn't work anymore..

where is your trusty old clutch fan in all of this???

and you have an air bubble, most people get em when changing thermostat, they can be a pain to bleed at times

More info man. Dunno what year you have, but S13's(and I think S14's) have a clutch fan on the water pump and an aux electric fan. The aux fan is to make sure the AC works at slow speeds/stopped. it is NOT there for engine cooling per se. thats the job of the clutch fan!

Bleed it again. What else have you replaced? You could have a collapsing upper radiator hose, plugged up radiator, bad water pump, any number of things.
