Hey Guys

Well its time I buy some new tires for the Qx4.

I have my eye on 3 different ones.

Toyo Open Country a/t

Bridgestone Dueler 695 a/t

Fuzion XTI

Anyone have experince with any of these tires?

I do a mix of city and some highway driving. I want to do a bit of light offroading, and they must be good in snow.

The toyos and the bridestones are roughly the same price, the Fuzions are a bit cheaper but with also great reviews. (other than a little noisy on the road)

Any input would be great!

Thanks!

BFG gonna blow all those out of the water but if you must stick with those, id say 1. Toyo2. Bridgestone (these are basically street tires - i have one as my spare)3. Fuzion (arent those korean or some s***?)

x2 on what Fueler said--BFG's. On my 2nd set. Zero Complaints, great on pavement, great in rain, great in snow.

Not familiar with Fuzions. Heard Toyo's wear fast--no personal experience. I was considering a set of Yokohama A/T's for winter due to cost and good experience with many sets of Yoko's.

BFG A/T's are great on road, but the worst tire I've ever had in the mud. They pack instantly and do not spin clean. I know the op is not asking about mud, but just want to forewarn.

save your money on the toyo AT and get the Nitto Terra Grappler. literally the same tire, just different name.

I've heard that the Nitto Terra Grapplers have low tread life, but other than that they're great. They look beefy too.I've also heard a lot of good things about Firestone Destination A/T. A lot of good reviews on them. They're budget friendly and come in many different sizes. I plan on getting them when I need new tires.

The Firestone Destination A/T is a great "everything" tire. I had them on my Pathy up until I went with a larger wheel/tire combo. They have good wear, they still have 9/32nds on them at 28,000mi., great in deep snow and on packed snow/ice, decent off road traction wet/dry, good highway manners (quiet). The only two complaints I had with them are that my gas mileage suffered a little vs the stock BFG's (probably from going from 70 to a 75 series) and when they were new they didn't have a good "on center" feel at highway speeds (due to the tall tread blocks). And best of all they were much cheaper than BFG's, Goodyears, and Michelins. I hope this helps

Oh.... and Fuzions SUCK! if you go Korean then buy Kumho Road Venture A/T kl78's

several of my buddies have the nitto terra grappler, and they all are getting 50k+ miles on their tires. in fact, we just sold a set today on Craigslist that had 42kmi on them and easily had 50% tread remaining.

they're probably the best off-road-able highway tire.

I have the Toyo Open Country A/T's and they are a great tire. They are very capable and they have great tread life. I would have to recommend these out of the three.

I had a set of toyo a/t's and loved them. I think i had 56k miles on my last set. Bfg's are really good on road and dirt and lasted quite a while on my truck, but mud, they pack up. No experience with the others.

Sounds like you have some good options here. Its always good to hear real world experience not second hand. I have always heard nitto's dont last as long-good to hear they can go 50k+. Same with Toyo's. Based on the reviews here alone, I would consider either of them now. As far as BFG-they are not a mud tire, great for everything else. A little pricey in 16's. Let us know what you end up getting and post some pics.

Thanks all for the help. I will look into the few others susggested and see what i can find on them. You do see alot of trucks with the BFG's on them, but i also have heard about their problems in the mud.

I believe i posted the incorrect bridgestone tire. I was meaning to ask about the Bridgestone A/T Revo, a little beefyer then the 695s.

Anyone have experince with the Pirelli Scorpion ATR? They look like a nice tire and decent price.

Most of my driving is on the road so I dont want something thats going to be loud or make my gas milage worse. Looking for something that would be fun in the dirt and maybe a bit of mud for the odd weekend and forsure good in the snow. Im from calgary alberta so we can get quite a bit of snow sometimes.

Thanks again everyone.

I have a set of Revos on my '01 Pathfinder. They are great. Work in everything i've managed to throw at them. They are quieter than the Michelin's i had on before. And those were just regular street Mich's. I haven't done any real off roading in them though. I drove across the country in them and they've held up nicely.
