Corruption in Russia reached a whole new level. Anna Shavenkova, daughter of Irkutsk’s regional election commission chairman slammed at full speed into pedestrians on a sidewalk, got out of her car and the only thing she was concerned about was the damage done to her vehicle. So she kept inspecting it, while Elena Pyatkova whom she hit was dying on the ground with her sister Julia Pyatkova laying paralyzed next to her.

Onlookers called an ambulance which arrived 15 minutes later, but all attempts to revive Elena Pyatkova failed. She was declared dead in the hospital. Her sister Julia Pyatkova survived the hit but suffered from severe musculoskeletal injury that will leave her paralyzed for the rest of her life.

The best part of the ordeal is, that after rich father of Anna Shavenkova found out that his daughter just killed one young girl and paralyzed another for life, he went to get a lawyer and ensured that his daughter not only gets out of it without punishment, but will likely get COMPENSATED BY THE GOVERNMENT. Russian jury has ruled that Anna Shavenkova was not responsible for the accident, she just happened to be in the driver’s seat when the accident occured so she will simply be treated as a witness. Witnesses do not get prosecuted, instead, as a witness, Anna Shavenkova is eligible to apply for compensations for the damage and stress she has suffered due to the accident. The jury has yet to established who the culprit is. Possible suspect – white Toyota she was driving.

So here we are with two sisters having their lives ruined. Hard to tell which one got away easy as one was taken to a better place, while the other one will linger as a vegetable, needing someone to change her diapers and tube feed her every day. And while the family of two girls whose lives were destroyed due to irresponsible driving of Anna Shavenkova grieves, Anna’s family gets ready to receive government compensations. It surely must have been hard for poor Anna to go through all this. Jeeez!

Luckily, thanks to the power of the internet, public outcry reached Russia and latest news has it that 28 year old Anna Shavenkova may end up getting investigated for this. Given the corruption levels in Russia, it is questionable how far the investigation will go. Russian officials in this region in Siberia were trying to keep the story quiet and did a good job for a few months, but it’s back on the internet with leaked CCTV video of the accident and if Russian officials don’t take action to prosecute Anna Shavenkova, almighty internet will.

So it's not clear if it was her fault yet, but someone did try a cover-up for sure. If someone comes up with a video with a better vantage point it would definitely be more clear what was up.

Dude, driving on the freeway for the past two weeks I have noticed over a dozen people in the driver's seat with the dome light on reading.

Some were reading books, others had a full newspaper open and on the steering wheel! I just move as far away as possible from them!

And here i was thinking Florida (Miami, to be exact) had the worst drivers. Remind me never to step foot in that part of Russia.

But seriously though, i swear most Florida drivers wake up and say: "I think my horrible driving will finally claim a victim today." They will murder you with their vehicles no second thought.

Story Time: One day coming back from FIU's south campus, on the palmetto, some wetodded lady in a white civic sedan, decides to wait till her exit was less than half a mile up the road to make a move to get into the exit lane. The story doesn't end there; It's where it begins. So now she's all the way in the fast lane, the exit lane is about 3 or 4 lanes over. Tell me what this crack head decides to do? Ok since you can't guess it, i'll tell ya. My friend refrains from accelerating although there's space in front of him (lots of it), because he judged that the lady in the isuzu rodeo just a little a head of us but in the other lane to our immediate right would be making a lane change and he was right. She puts on her indicator and begins making the lane change. Now this is where everything goes wrong. "Rodeo lady" has about 75% completed the lane change when "Civic lady",in the fast lane on our left, decides "b**** this lane is mine". She comes swinging into the lane and not backing off, "Rodeo lady" swerves to avoid the side-to-side collision, almost loses it. She regains control and gave up on the lane change. This all happens right in front of me and my friend at about 75 mph.
