Hi guys, I am sure this topic has come up before, but I am so new to this car, I am not sure what terms to search for.

Anyway, I am seriously considering a 07/08 M35 with Sport and Aero (preferably). One 07 example I found has everything I want except it has just about 50K miles on it.

My questions are:

How crucial is it to look for a lower-mile one? Or is 50K nothing on these cars.

Even though the car is CPO, what major service and parts should I look into replacing right after I get the car? What are the corresponding costs? If the costs are major, I would like to ask the dealer to cover them before I agree to a deal.

Anything else? I have been a European car guy all my life. This is the first Japanese car that satisfies my wants in a car. Need some help here.

I've had my 06 sport with aero package since 12 miles and now Im at53k and the car is running great. No problems what so ever, given Ive been pretty good about staying on schedule with maintainence. So in my opinion I think every car is diff, but I am very pleased with integrity of the car. A few little clanks here and there in the supspension and steering is about the only diff on a day to day basis. I would deffinately have the belts checked and replaced around the 50 k mark. hope this helps buudddy!!

with 50K, i would be concerned about the original factory warranty, which expires at 60K.

I bought a 30K 2007 M45 sport and now have close to 50K and the car runs great. I was hung up on that CPO thing but ended up getting a car without it and now I wouldn't even enter that into my next buying decision. Pay $100 get a pre purchase inspection for another infiniti dealer and you know exactly what needs repaired and what has already been repaired. Once you buy your used ride put a Elite Extended factory warranty on it before 40K miles because there are reasonably priced. With the factory warranty and then the Elite warranty you have little to worry about for a few years.

Oh, if you haven't test drove an M45 yet, dont cause youll end up with one of those. I know too well

BEWARE OF THE CPO PROGRAM FROM INFINITI JUST BECAUSE ITS A CPO DOES NOT MEAN ITS A BETTER USED CAR.

The CPO program from Infiniti is not a set standard, this is what I found out the hard way. After having so many little problems with my car, (lower mileage, off lease car with 29kmi) I went through my paper work and found the inspection certificate signed off but not one item checked off. They just slapped the sticker on the window without performing the CPO process, this is a clear case of fraud. I fought tooth and nail with the dealer, which is now out of business, to have item checked that were on the inspection report. I called the customer service, wrote letters, and got no support from the factory. They would not support me and list the items and specs of the CPO process, pretty much told me it is up to each dealership what they do to certify a car, one person on the phone told me I should be used to being defrauded as this living in South Florida. I was very pissed off and insulted.

When I took it in for its first oil change, they performed many items to mend the situation...complete detail, full tank of gas, wiper blades, belts, and new brakes but they would not put on new tires. One week later the car was towed back to the dealer with no oil in it, to this day I am not sure if they put oil back in the engine, but from this time on, I had excessive oil consumption which so many M45's suffer with, the M35 is not suffering from this fate, my car now has a new engine 10kmi later.

The CPO is meant to be more than a warranty, it is meant to put the car in like new running order. Make sure you are buying from a good dealer that performs this process so you dont get screwed over like I did. Also, try to negoiate the Elite plan to cover you for one more year with no deductable.

I am just starting now almost a year into owning the car to enjoy it. I will not keep it past the warranty period and will likely never get an Infiniti again, although the G37's are a blast to drive.

Great info. I do feel like I am getting a little hung up over this whole CPO deal. Good to know there is another alternative.

I wouldn't worry abut the CPO as much as the maintenance history of the car- the dealer should be able to print the entire history from Infinitis datsbase- you should be able to see oil changes, warranty repairs, owner complaints etc-make your decision based on that.- good luck.

I agree with tmnjfx35.

I just bought an m45 with 30k miles and it was offered as a CPO and came with the CPO extended warranty. Before i purchased, I found out that the CPO warranty was a $1500 fee that they had added to the cost and it only gave me an addition 2 years of extended warranty. I bought the car but not as a CPO which deducted $1500 from the cost and then began to negotiate an elite warranty with them. (make sure you research some costs first so you can bargain better) I got a 60 month/60k mile extended warranty for $2k. I spoke with Courtney of Scottsdale and this price was slightly lower then she could do for me so i took it. I just told them that i would buy my extended warranty from a different infiniti dealership if they didnt lower their cost. The only downfall to this was that if you dont take the CPO then you dont get the advertised 3.9% interest rate. They wanted to charge me 5.5% interest so i also researched an auto loan from Bank of america and found out i could get a 4% rate from them. I told the dealership that and magically they were able to match it. It is legal for dealerships to up your rate quote from banks in order to make more profit so be prepared. Good luck and sorry for the long response but it could save you thousands like it did me.

Very good info. Thanks a lot, guys.

To sum it up:

- Don't worry too much about needing to find a CPO, the elite warranty is more worth investing money into.

- Finance with IFS is only available on CPO's, so get pre-approved from a bank before walking in to a stealership.

- Spend $100 for pre-purchase inspection at a dealer.

- Have a dealer print out a history of service, maintenance, owner complaints, etc.

- 50K miles is nothing to worry about but should get the drive belts inspected/replaced.

- Finally, if I think I want a M35, do not test drive the 45.

Thanks again, all.

What is IFS? For my situation (maybe it has changed within the last month in terms of incentives they offer) if i wanted to get the 3.9% interest they were advertising i needed to buy the car CPO'd. Like i said, i still bought the car from them but i didnt buy it CPO (which basically just meant it came with a 2 year ext. warranty for $1500) So that automatically took $1500 off my total cost before negotiating began. I then added an extended warranty that met my driving needs but made sure that it was a fair price because i had contacted other places like Courtney of scottsdale. Because i didnt buy it CPO they tried making my interest rate really high until i told them what bank of america would give me, which they quickly offered me the same rate because they would rather get a auto loan sale rather than nothing. Its important to know your credit score and history before you go. If you are 720+ you should be close to 4.2-4.5% for auto loans through bank of america or chase. (check these all online if you want, you can get a good idea of what you will be without actually running credit check and taking a hit)

Its in your best interest to research everything before you go and be as prepared as they are. Dont go in expecting to get the car for what they paid because its only fair that they make money on the deal to keep their business going, but not to get rich off of you and they will try everything from screwing you on your trade in, hiking interest rates, car service prepaid programs like oil changes, extended warranties etc.

Lastly there was a helpful thread floating around in which people listed what they paid for their cars, its mileage, warranties etc. I will try to find it and post it. This would serve as a good reference for you on going prices. Also know that the new models are about to hit the lots so that should help you in negotiating.

Sounds like you are doing the right things and in the end, it just matters if you are happy and that your M makes you as happy as mine does. Good luck
