An article I read in the LA Times said the problem may be worse than a sticky gas pedal. Toyotas and Lexuses have had more uncontrolled acceleration problems reported than all other brands of cars combined. They are even printing articles about what to do if your Toyota has uncontrolled acceleration, can't be good for sales. Also the Feds ordered no more sales or manufacturing of recalled Toyotas until problem fixed, Toyota didn't do it voluntarily.http://wcbstv.com/local/stop.d....html

Then he reneged and said just take it to the dealer for repair, which usually involves driving when a car carrier is not utilized.

Just finished driving a stripper 4 cylinder Camry with 6 speed auto, and I must say I was quite impressed. Most of the amenities of the G50 and FYG33 (no auto mirror, no passenger seat power, no power headrests) and a few extra. 26 mpg where my G50 gets 16 mpg on same circuit. Ouch!

What would you expect from the management [US GOV] that owns GM and Chrysler and is controlled by Unions> Anti non union Asian at the least.

I'm pretty unimpressed with how Toyota is handling this whole deal. It has just been denial followed by retraction of denial over and over and over. They keep saying "there's no problem with this, just that." Then a little while later "actually, there IS a problem with this, too..." And they keep piling more on top. Probably would have been wiser just to admit they screwed up from the start. It's better to tell people "oh, we were wrong, you're actually safe" than "oh, we lied, you're actually not safe."

With Toyota's very comfy position riding on the image of yesteryear, you'd think they'd be anxious to preserve their reputation. But instead they're just screwing things up left and right. They've turned what should have been merely a financial problem into a PR nightmare.

I think it's funny that only the models that used the AMERICAN MADE part are at risk.
