In October, I bought a 1991 240sx shell hatch. Since I've been working on it a lot more lately, I thought I'd post some pictures and let you guys know of my progress.

I bought it for $400. Frame rails and rocker panels are clean. Some of the suspension is rusted, but the chassis is in good shape. The only major issue is that someone removed the gas tank and the area where the apre tire is stored to put in a fuel cell. However, some of us like stock gas tanks, and having a trunk. It was in an accident so some of the front end panels didn't line up too.

It did come with some cool stuff though. Cusco front coils and KYB rear shocks. Tein springs all around. Came with a limited slip differential too. The previous owner also gave me a password JDM from lip. I need to put that one still though.

Here's when I bought it:

About a month ago, my dad and I started putting in the new motor, a rebuilt KA24DE from my old car. We unbolted the automatic tranmission, and bolted up a manual transmission, exedy clutch, and fidanza lightweight flywheel. I put in some carpet from my parts car the engine came out of too. Oh, and seatbelts too.

I'll add some more pictures soon. I got a set of daytime running lights and some yellow bulbs. I put the bulbs in today and installed the dtrl's a while ago. I have some JDM turn signals on order.

Today I removed the Clutch damper and replaced the a/c compressor. I'm waiting on the a/c condenser to put the radiator in. I did get a new radiator for Xmas! Yay! More pictures soon to come. Sadly, I can't remove the ads from the image upload.

Yesterday I replaced the headlight switch and driver's side power window switch. Replaced clutch slave cylinder too. Now I have two headlights. The pass side one wouldn't turn on, and the driver's one wouldn't retract up because of a bad headlight motor.

I already have a 91 SR20 hatch and needed something to swap in my engine from the old car. It already has some suspension work, like the coils and rear sway bar. I found some ES bushings in the trunk that will go in when it's up and running. I'm kinda going for a lightly modded daily. At the same time, I want to make it look like it did back in 1991

I definitely wanted the 5 spd though. I hated that automatic. $20 will take it home btw. lol

I'm guessing the spare tire well was totally rusted out?

I have no idea if it was rusted. Probably not. Autocheck report thing shows it was in South Carolina until 4 years ago. The guy who had it before me totally raped this car. My dad has an air chisel though and I can have that part removed from my wrecked 240 parts car.

The fenders and hood have little cuts in them to try and get them to line up correctly because of the front end damage. Which is really dumb because they line up fine when bent back to stock position. Everything does line up now too.

Oh, and gotta love the primer overspray on the rear wheels. :thud:

lol his shop has a steal roof. He's pulled 350's out like that so I wasn't afraid it was gonna fall. Yeah he helps out a lot. We almost killed each other the day we did that swap, but it's better now. He's definitely been a huge help an I probably wouldn't have been able to do this without him!

He's especially useful for air chisels, welding, and big a** wrenches.

Update: Today I put in the JDM bumper lenses. That fixed the front turn signal problem. The old ones must have had some corosion. Fixed the passenger side retractible seat belt too. It wouldn't go forward. There were no seatbelts in the car whatsoever when I bought it, so I am glad those work now and with only one minor flaw (found a lose connector... now they work! yay!)

Also removed the rear bumper cover because there was no support. I'm about ready to search on how to remove the one from my parts car. I'm pretty sure the supprt's about ready to come out. Might just need the hammer.

Finished bolting the a/c lines up, except for the condenser. That should be here Monday. Woot. So then it'll be time for the new radiator to go in.

Picture Time.

This thing is in some major need of paint.

Haven't quite figured out the picture posting thing, but you can click on the small ones. It'll bring them to a decent size.

This.

OR you could not be a douche and right click, copy IMG location, and use your own IMG code and not use that fail HTML code.

Rike zis.

Seriously Joey, it's not that hard.

Fixed clutch today. One of my bolts that hold the radiator in broke Otherwise, need the radiator and gas tank rigged in there and it'll run!

I haven't updated this in a while. Basically
-used a drill and spot weld tool to remove the trunk floor from my wrecked car.
-got rid of stupid sheet metal they riveted in the trunk. Used a drill and drilled out all the rivets.
-gas tank is bolted up to the trunk floor (which is loose in there. Needs welded back in).
-no spark. Missed a broken plug in the ignitor. Fixed spark
-messed up timing while finding spark issue. Reset distributor timing.
-Turned on (finally). For the first time in 3 years, this car drove.
-Washed 10 months of fiberglass dust off the windows.
-Got Steak N' Shake. just kidding.

There's still a few minor issues. For one, the power steering is leaky. There's an emmisions hose rubbing against the header, so it's all smokey. Random plugs that I don't know where they go. I need to know where the a/c fan plugs in. There's a connector by the MAF I don't know where to plug it in.

It drove though. I'm happy. lol Here's a pic of it FINALLY out of the shop. this is the best of the pictures. lol
