I've searched, but couldn't find a good article, so I've decided to write one. You can use this for Canadian Daytime Running Light(CDRL) too. I still have pop ups, so not sure, but I think you can also hook up Silvia front end fog lights. People say "it's easy to hook up," "wiring is already there," or "takes 15 min," but no one was actually showing how to do it, so here you go.

First remove the battery and find this plug which is attached the main harness. Mine was buried under the harness, so I had hard time finding it. There's a cap plugged in, so remove it.

Left side is JDM fog light harness that came with the OEM fog lights, but you can make your own easily. I bought some wire connectors from Radio Shack and modified. I used a Dremel to make the flat male connector smaller. That's the one goes to the plug on the car. Female connectors fit to JDM harness without any modification.

Harness is ready and connected to the plug on the car.

I found this small slot, so pulled wires from there and connected to fog lights.

Cleaned up with zip ties and wiring is done.

Basically, this shows how wiring works between the plug on the car and fog lights.

Now move on to the relay. This is the box right next to the battery. Don't get fooled by 'RR FOG.' This is NOT the right one.

This is located right behind head light assembly on driver's side and this 'FR FOG' is the correct one.

Open it up and you will see empty spot.

You have to buy a relay and plug in there. Nissan part number is 25230-C9980.

Last part is the switch. Remove the plastic trim around the cluster and you will see this black plug with clear protector around it. That's the plug for the fog light switch.

Circled one is the correct switch for USDM s13. Middle two pins are for the light on the switch.

I used a different switch, but it's basically the same. Mine doesn't have two middle pins because it doesn't light up.

You can use different switches, but you will have to do some extra modification. Somehow you can't use existing setup and have to do it from the scratch, this is what needs to be done.http://www.classictruckshop.co...s.htm

This is how it works after it's all done on S13. Fog light will only work with low beam.Dim light: Fog lights won't turn on although switch is ON.Low beam: Fog light will turn on if switch is ON.High beam: Fog lights won't turn on although switch is ON.

I was curious to see how other cars work, so I checked my daily driver which is Mazda 3. It came with OEM fog lights installed from the factory.I always leave the fog light switch on and this is what happened.Dim light: No fog lights

Low beam: Fog lights are on.

High beam: Fog lights get turned off automatically.

s13 fog lights work the same way. Hope this helps.

P.S.: Special thanks to wmdavis007. He posted some key info, so I was able to do this easily.

Wow sweet, good info. I finally know what that black harness is by my feet is.

Here's my fogs

I have them wired to the head lights, doesn't dim the head lights any. On with head lights on, off when the high beams are on. but that's a good writeup

when running the headlights or you mean fog lights and daytime running lights? b/c if you meant with headlights that's how both of ours are setup just different ways.

what i meant was being able to run the "running" lights (just amber ones on) and fogs at the same time. the stock wring isnt set up to allow this.

it is easy to install if you don't mind the wiring being exposed and stuff. bet it took awhile for you cause you did a clean a** install and use the existing spot from the car.

mine came with factory fogs, so all i have to do is cut the wire and splice it to CDTRL

but check your local regulations. I had a Wal-Mart driving light kit that had keychain remote that could turn the lights on independantly from the headlights/signals. I was pulled over twice and also I wouldn't pass inspection unless they operated like OP or I do. I will admight it looks kinda pimp.

You sir are my new best friend.

LoL, I've been searching for song long to find a write up about using the factory wiring I always worried about wiring in crappy wiring all over the place, If I can recall correctly, on your othe post you had those three switches, the one you ended up using was from a 180sx, correct? So the other usdm/canadian switch, does that one replace the flip up light switch? I noticed the shape of the swtich and the lil picture on it looks like its upside down, meaning the switch is upside down, and the shape of it reminds me of the flip up light switch.

Sorry for the ramble...lol but this thread FTMFW!!!!

That's exactly what I want. It's going to look so cool, but too bad factory wiring won't alow this.

That's good to know. No wonder it's wired that way. So is my write up DOT approved?

I'm with you. There are several fog light installation write ups, but nothing shows how to take advantage of factory wiring.

To tell you the truth, it could be from s13 silvia or 180sx, and it was very hard to find.

Nope! It replaces cruise control switch.

The switch is in US Nissan catalog, but not sure if it's still available. It's 25370 in below diagram and price is about $30 from Courtesy.

Ah, damn, that's ok, I think I will just order the switch, when I get it I can separate the button housings and just add the flip up light piece and swtich the stickers

Very good, excelent.

So, just to clear something up. The other button you used was for cruise control equipped versions. So that it wouldn't delete the Cruise controls right?

The rectangle shaped one, no it won't, you can keep your cruise control. The other rounded shapped button WILL have to go where the cruise control button is.

Wow! Awesome write up! Where can you obtain that rectangular fog light switch? Also do all 240's 89-94 have that factory plug/factory wiring for fog lights? I have a 1990 Hatch.. Thanks

Great write up, I was thinking about making one like this when I installed my fogs but I got lazy. I did everything the same except I replaced the stock fog connector with one that plugged right into the JDM for harness.

That is correct. I did 5-speed swap, so cruise control doesn't work, but I know how to make it work. I'm just lazy and one day I'll work on it.

From Japan. RHDJapan confirmed with Nissan Japan that it's been discontinued, so I searched used one forever and finally found one. It's the only one I've seen for the past year. There are so many other Nissan fog light switches that'll fit like mine, but unfortunately they seat further back. I'll post some examples later.

I believe so. Easiest way to find out of is look for the plug near battery and switch harness near the cluster.

only way i can think of is to use a relay and use the running lights 12v source to trigger and turn on the fogs or vice versa

Quick question, can I still keep my Cruise Control if I use this switch?

no, it replaces the cruise control button. you would have to either relocate the cruise control on/off or use that other fog light button.
