Well, my truck is in pieces right now as I'm in the middle of replacing some front suspension parts over the weekend. I took the lower control arms off and dropped them off at a machine shop to get the new ball joints pressed in. I figured I might as well replace the bushings with energy bushings while I have them off.

The manual I have says to take a hammer and socket to hammer the old bushings out. Nope, that's not gonna happen. I could burn them out, which is my last resort, or fabricate a big socket and a huge bolt with a nut and washers to pull it out with an impact gun.

Has anyone replaced the lower control arm bushings and if so, how did you go about getting the old ones out?

on my 240, i assume the bushings are the same, i burned them out, then used a metal saw to cut the sleeve and then used pliers to pull the sleeve out. seemed like the easiest solution to me. Althought a more environmentally friendly way might be to push them out with a press.

Take to a shop pay 20 bucks and have them pressed out, then you do not muck up the arms.

These are the lower 2wd arms. The bushings are on the frame. But Yes, the upper ones I might just take to a machine shop.

I ended up burning them out. Those bushings are not fun to replace.
