The catch is he needs money fast and the title has not arrived yet. So he is waiting for the title to arrive in the mail... also none of the gauges work at all.

It sounds sketchy, but i may go check it out, the pictures were not horrible.Just an sr20 hatch on steelies.

check it outdo a comp test, and check for rust.check to see if it holds proper boost pressure and check block and motor for leaks.let it run for a while or test drive it to reveal any "hidden" catches if any.and do any other Pre-buy tests

just be smart. and don't get stiffed, cuz this could either be a really good deal. or a nice scam

if he wants you to pay now before receiving the title, it's probably a scam. Probably stolen.

Yeah, definitely going to be smartt about it and do all pre purchasing tests and checks.

He wants the car gone before the title is received because of "the need for money asap", which is the sketchy part, most likely i am going to just wait on this car to see how things go, if a title is ever involved.if not ill be looking for a 5spd coupe or a 5spd hatch with 70k orig miles.

Don't do anything before you see the title yourself, no title = scam.

I wouldn't give him the time of day unless he had a title. I would tell him thanks, but no thanks...

DON'T EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER buy a car where the title is pending or just not there! It could mean few things: stolen, or he cashes in then reports it stolen. $1500 for SRed complete car? too good to be true.. steer clear before u make a big mistake and flood this forum with cries and regrets

i mean if it looks good and sounds good get it you could always rip the motor out and put it another shell if you never get the title because you cant do a sr swap for under 1500 anyways well here anyways. My friend actually just bought a sred hath for 1500 also he didn't get the title right away but the guy didn't get all the money right away either but all it needs is a tps sensor and the guy brought the title to him within 2 days.

yeah like the rest said.don't buy without a title.and make sure the title checks outcheck vins located in various places in the car.

the only vin that "should" or may be different is the one on the dash. since people swap dashes.everywhere else its located should match up with the chassis vin.

car could well be stolen.the ugancy of his situation sorta leads to that. or he really needs money fast..could go either way.just be smart about it.

If the motor seems not destroyed then yes?

But I'd wait for that title to come through.

Or tell him you'll come get the car and then pay when the title is there.

Tell him to get a work quote and updated workorder from a registered garage/shop, if he tries to convince you that it's not necessary then you know it's not legit
