newbie with 97 q45 Possible short please help radio/ interior lights and gauge

Hello everyone, I just got a 97 q45.

The owner said they broke into the car and stole all the stereo equipment (bose). He said after he started the car, he noticed there were no interior lights that functioned and that all the lights on the instrument cluster turned on (check engine, tcs, e brake etc) I taped all the wires that were exposed.

ANY sugestions??? Please help.

Why would you buy a car that was broken into for the OEM Bose system? Don't get me wrong I love Bose but unless your a NICO guy and want the radio then why break into a car for it.

Might maybe want to check the charging system too because those lights come one when its failing.

Thanks for the info. This is my first experience with Nissans and Infiniti.

I had been a Honda fan till my second v6 transmission went last week. I got this 97 q45 for $900. Timing belt changed 30,000 miles ago and transmission rebuilt. That is what the guy said anyway. No paper work.

I figured if it lasts me a year I will be happy. (that's what I say but every honda I have owned I have modyfied)

I neede a change and got this one. I hope I didn't make a mistake!

Thanks for the info BTW. I do appreciate it. I found a fuse blown and got the interior lights to work. Did not get enough chance to check the other fuses. As far as the BOSE, well, that is what he said and the car has no speakers or radio. I did find a small bose amp still connected to the trunk of the car.

I still have no lights on the cluster and have the check engine, abs, tcs off and SLIP lights on. So if you can help it would be great. Check engine I will scan tomorrow.

The guy you bought the car from either has no clue what he's doing, is lying through his teeth or too such bad care of the car that it required a new timing CHAIN which is not a replaceable item like your old Honda's V6 or the older Nissan V6 motors.

This could be a huge can of worms, you should go over the entire car and check fluids color (take a paper towel and look at the color of the transmission fluid) and also what is the mileage etc.

Might be worth dumping this now for the 1k you paid and moving on, maybe not but post up more information.
