I got a really good deal on new t3/t4 50 trim .63 a/r so I picked it up. I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this turbo on a RB25. I actually had this same turbo in my KA24det back in 2004 and it was an awesome turbo so I was thinking about slapping it on the RB-Z and seeing what its made of. My plans originally were to get a gt30r which I know would kick a** but I'm open to using the 50 trim if its not gonna suck on the RB since I got it for cheap.

The car is quick as it running a stock turbo at 1 bar, my goals are realistically 350whp daily - 400whp max for the occasional exotic car battle. In such a light chassis it should make for a fun car at the button and willow springs, my two local tracks which most of my enthusiastic driving is done. Currently the car is running a z32 mafs, nistune, 525cc injectors... all the supporting mods are there. Anyone running one of these turbos that can tell me how much power they made, spool times, anything?

I was hoping for ~350whp at 1 bar but I guess thats a bit optimistic lol

What trim are you running? and was that one 91, 93 octane or something else.

What exhaust wheel do you have in it? If you got the T350 wheel (aka stage 5 wheel), it should be able to see 400 hp on a T04E50trim/T350 .63ar. My old SR turbo was just that, and it made 413hp@21psi before selling it for something bigger.

Sadly its a stage 1 wheel, my KA had the stage 3. Hopefully this turbo doesn't end up disappointing me but in all reality it has to be quicker than the stock rb25 turbo so i should be fine... i hope.

VIrus--- you and I are in the same predicament--- and i have considered that exact turbo cause of a deal by me on the east coast. But for as nice as your build is I would say ditch the bottom mount and finish the bay with a bigger more well rounded setup then the t/3t/4.

So at the minimum if its not gated youll have to pull your manifold off and get a gate welded onto it....plus the price of the gate--- and im not sure the size of that turbo but you also may have to run a T/3 spacer...

If price was really a concern-- there are guys running the ebay top mounts which can be had for 100-200 bucks, a holset hx35 for 250-300 and for marginally more money-- or in my opinion the same-- you have a nicer (looking) setup with good results for both power and powerband.

In just another post below someone posted 423whp and a decent torque curve for the hx35. The only thing i would be weary of for you is if track use would be enough abuse to crack manifolds quicker.

Anyway for me--- I passed on the small turbo(despite the deal) for the top mount setup because I had the same goals you did and for the hassle it just wasnt enough gain. I picked up my top mount for 70 bucks and got a holset hx35 for 250 shipped and am going to pick up a tial 38mm. My goal is under 500whp for under $500 bucks. We will see

I feel you, I really wanted a GT30r but I couldn't pass up a deal. I build tig welded manifolds so it wouldn't be an issue to make me a nice topmount. In the end though I want to stick with the factory bottom mount, I like the way the turbo looks nestled under the motor like a running back holding a football lol. Plus they are reliable as a rock and the turbo is internally gated so I'm just gonna go ahead and slap it on next week, weld up a new dpipe and see if I like it.

Ill post back with how I feel about it, If my lines and everything are done I should have it running by the end of next week
