Hey guys, just thought I'd get on here to gather some info before a buy a 240. I've found a 240 with a Toyota jzgte twin turbo engine installed in it.

Was just wandering if anyone could give me some insight on if this is legit, or a good buy, or what to look for...etc. things like that

Thanks

If it's legit then it might be a good deal

there are a couple of major things that can go wrong with the jz swaps ; one is crank walk and the other is 1st gear thrust washer failure in the 15x transmission

I spent 7k on my swap that I don't think I'd recoup so 8k sounds like a decent deal...

I think if you have to ask if it's legit/if you don't have enough information about it on your own you shouldn't buy a car because you probably won't know how to handle it or fix it if it breaks.

I would say buy it. Now all you need is to go to ihatestickers.com and get the bought not built sticker.

looks like a pos. tons of over spray, who knows if it really runs, or drives straight, or the swap was done in a backyard, etc.get a stock 1995 then do the swap yourself, only way to be sure.

I talked to him about it. He said he did the install, but he told me that he had Tech2 do the wiring...I'm still not sure on all of the details. I wouldn't buy it unless i was able to look at it in person and have a talk with my brother, he runs an srt10 and's pretty up on his stuff, but i figured i'd ask yall first since u guys are pretty 240 savvy. and Nesquick, you do have a point, it doesnt look like there's an exhaust coming out the back....idk though

Definitly has been done before and also kits available, I was going to drop a 2JZ but decided I want to turbo my KA. Heres the link for any one wanting to do this.

Also I say go for it, not a lot of people have this done (at least from what I know). Good luck on your choice.

Right over the head!Clearly you dont get sarcasm! But its ok, it can be hard to figure if someone is being sarcastic from text.....cept when they are talking about a 2JZ 240sx swap.Im surprised no one posted that silly 2 Jay-Z with Nas picture yet.

there is a number of things wrong with this guys car IMO first off if im going to do a good s15 front conversion and a 2jz swap that would mean i would have to care for the car. the way this thing is so dirty inside and that two dollar paint job would just make me concerned that he went bottom dollar on everything. not somthing im interested in. also if i just put in a 2jz i think i would want more then just one gauge. once again looks like he went the cheapest route possible.

if its legit then its a good deal. but i doubt you'll get what your looking for not for 8k atleast but hey i could be wrong. funny thing is i was looking somthing up on ebay and i litterally just came from that page and saw this.

So, say I have $15,000...I don't but if I did. Based on what yall r saying, should I buy this if its legit and just pay for repairs if things go all "fubar" with the car? Or should I just buy a stock 240, do a RB25 swap with it and put my own kit on it? Which do yall think would be cheaper?

You're just gonna wreck it anyway.

16 year olds have no business driving cars such as these.

If you had 15k which you say you dont but if you did. i would tell you to do your own car. you can buying a rolling shell thats in good shape "s14 body style if you like that better" for like 2-4k EASY. then if you liked the s15 front clip like on the car you posted you can find that and a body kit and be WELL under 15k. plus you would have the personal pride of having picked out and done it yourself and have the piece of mind knowing you didn't cut any corners on the way to your goal.

if you have $15k use some of it on a down payment on a genesis coupe, the rest for gas and insurance or

Find a mint car car that you like stock and get that.

For 8K its a pretty good bargain. I'd be all over it if I had 8K laying around, but I don't.

I say buy it and become familiar with it, and take car of what it needs. Just find some local help, and do a lot of reading.

The R154 does have the 1st gear thrust washers that fail, but usually over 100K miles. But they are beast, the handle a good 800-1000hp and the truck guys rock crawl with them.

I saw get it, but the color is bleh

That swap looks like crap. Like someone else said, with all the overspray, and being as dirty as it is, there's no telling what the swap is like.

About there only being one gauge inside, my friends interior is bone stock on the inside. The only thing giving it away is the MT streets out back. Dakota digital ftw.

That is true, that's the thing i was thinking, being able to pick what I want and do what i want to the car and knowin whats been done to the car because i chose it instead of having it already done for me. By brother suggested getting a stock 240 and sticking a turbo on it and working on the interior and exterior and gettin that lookin sharp, then buying an RB25 on the side and working on that for if I mess up the KA24 or just want to switch out the engines later on.

This may be true, but i've already been in a wreck with a buddy a mine driving and i was the passanger, so i definately don't want to have that happen, and my brother flipped his z28, so with all theses experiences i dont think me driving and wrecking is going to be an issue. Plus, i can work on the car through out highschool, which i have one more year of, that'll give me time to get the car done up right.
