Hey yall im new to the forum and also new to the z32 world. I bought this beauty for 900 bonez with nothing in her. Apparently what had happened is the original engine was in great running condition and had the wiring harness lay against the header and made the car run super rich. This made the exhaust turn extremely hot and then melted everything in the entire car. EVERYTHING! So i have spent the last 2 yrs throwing money at this car and i finally got it running and with all brand new parts. Let me see if i can get some pics up!P.S. does anyone know how to do a tt conversion without a motor swap? What parts are neccessary? ALso, anyone know of a Dallas,tx meet? How do i post these pics up?-Jimmy

A TT swap IS a motor swap. The blocks, cranks and rods are the same, but the pistons are much higher compression in the NA (not boost friendly at all) and the wristpins are weaker. I'm pretty sure the heads on the TT have larger intake and exhaust ports (the NA ones would require extensive porting to make them the same size). Also, the TT has oil squirters that bathe the cylinder walls in oil.

To further explain what car nut was saying, you need to do the engine swap.

The N/A engine has a compression ratio of 10.5:1. The TT has a 9.0:1. This allows more room for boost. And, the TT motor has stronger internals to handle this increase in pressure. If you "TT'D" an N/A Z, you could only run the safe 6 p.s.i. "safe boost," and you would get snuffed by every TT Z (capable of 14 p.s.i.) you ever met. And by the time you paid for all the of the parts (and possibly labor), you would DEFINITELY spend more money than you would just doing the TT motor swap.

To post pictures, make an account at photobucket.com. Once you've uploaded them, you'll see that one of the link types (there are four different formats beneath every picture) involves something like this at the beginning: [IMG]. That is the code you need to copy and paste into the thread and viola, pictures!

Good luck with your Z, and welcome to NICO!
