You have a VQ35DE, same as Altima, Maxima Pathfinder, Murano etc.

Thanks, but You have made a statement, but have not supported your argument. How did you conclude it is out of one of those cars? I have never seen a FWD Altima/Maxima/Murano VQ that has a cooling fan on the water pump like mine? Have you? Why would they when the radiator is not on the side of the car? Pathfinder maybe, but In what year did the pathfinder ever come with the same intake manifold as the G35/350z?

The Block and Internals are all the same on every VQ35, but the compression ratio may vary. they all have the same bore, except the Pathfinder and murano if I am not mistaken 95.5cm something to that affect. I don't believe their's a cooling fan on the water pump never heard of such a thing? does it say 3.5L on the Valve Cover? or you didn't get one with it? The 350z/G35 never came with the same manifold to my knowledge.

It came with the plastic cover that sits on the top of the engine that has the Infinity logo and says 3.5. It has RWD motor mounts also. When you say that "The 350z/g35 never came with the same manifold," do you mean the G35/350Z manifolds are the same but that manifold was never put in a pathfinder, right? I'm hoping that an owner before me put the fan clutch on it for his installation. My engine serial number is 925915A VQ35. Does anyone know how to check out that number to identify this thing? Who can I contact? Wish I knew how to post a picture.

My mistake that was a typo on my part, yes the 350z/G35 share the same manifold.

I think I must have a G35 VQ because as far as I can tell G35,350Z and Infinity FX are the only cars that came with that manifold and none of them came with a fan clutch. I think the former owner took a fan clutch off a pathfinder and stuck it on the G35 motor. Everything else seems to match G35 specs. If anyone has come up with another possibility, help me out.

G35 Sedans (at least the autos anyway) have belt driven fans unlike all the other VQ35s (not sure on pathfinder, those may well have had belt driven fans too). All VQ35DEs have the same bore and stroke. They are all 95.5mm. Pathfinders have a 10.0:1 compression ratio due to piston design differences and head combustion chamber size differences. Pathfinders have flat top pistons and smaller combustion chambers (also different shaped intake ports on the heads). Modified by Nealoc187 at 2:26 PM 11/4/2009

Exactly as he said. Pulled a VQ out of a G35 auto sedan a few months ago. It had the clutched fan on the front.

I am pretty secure with knowing what I have now. It can't be anything other than a 2003 G35. How are you guys coming with those prototype headers for the VQ S14 swap? I am thinking about your motor mounts and trans mounts for my project also. Did you guys use a laser sighting devise to line up the trans and the rear end when you designed the mounts?
