Okay, hi! I have a 1993 240sx and I just pulled the motor. I plan on placing in a rebuilt S14 motor. I know to swap out the dizzy and atleast the lower part of the intake manifold.

This is where I get confused as to this being the first time this deep into an engine. The engine has been ran for about 1k miles and I just re-sealed the oil pan so I know it runs. It has been out of a car for several months but is squeaky-clean. I need to try and get it to TDC in order to put my S13 dizzy in for the timing. Is it okay to go ahead and rotate the crank or should I get some more oil in it first? I am concerned about F-ing things up.

Now the other part. The intake manifold. The S14 manifold already has the EGR stuff deleted. SO, all I has to do is unbolt the lower half off my S13 and bolt it to the S14 upper mani? Anything tricky or special I have to do? I have looked online for answers but nothing is specific enough. They all just say that it works and the S14 top mani is better due to no butterflies or something of the sort.

Is there anyone who can confirm and/or tell me how to do this correctly? I do plan on turboing this engine. The S14 engine is already tapped and set for oil and I already have a T2 manifold.

Thanks and any help/information is much appreciated!

Michael

Iam not a genius with this subject but why would you have to bolt up the s13 lower intake? or the dizzy? I just dropped a obd1 s14 motor in my 92 coupe and I didnt change any thing.. (other then the alternator) And everything is fine.. my car runs.. so why go through the trouble if you dont need to?

My S14 is from an OBD2 car, so yeah a few things need to be tranferred due to the S13 being OBD1. If my S14 engine was OBD1 I wouldn't have made this thread. Thanks for the thought tho.

you can wire in the internal coils s14 dizzy if you want that clean look, The lower(plenum) manifold is the one with all the sensors, you just unbolt the lower from the upper and remove it, take the s13 ish and reverse.

I've swapped out the upper plenum half in my 13 and it bolts up without any issues. But i think the small coolant hose that leads to the throttlebody points down instead of to the right but you can just reroute that hose, block it off, or use the hose from the 14 mani. On mine, i just blocked it off.

As for the distributor, just swap it with the 13 one if you don't want to do any extra work.I've put 13 motors in 14's and the other way around too and they are pretty much the same other than slight differences with the head/ valve cover, manifolds and other items.
