I know a few people on here have installed 09 side mirrors on their older Maximas.I have a 05 SE now and was able to get my hands on a 2009 passengers side mirror with turn signal....before I go all out looking for the drivers side, I was wondering how much modifications I would need to do and if a normal person like me could do it or woudl i need a expert ?

Are there any threads or directions on here that could help me ?

I was the second person to do the mod and you need to re-drill the holes on the car to get them to fit. I hooked up the blinkers but have yet to hook up the rest of the features, mirror adjust heat etc. But other people have done it. Other than that it's pretty straight forward...

Here's the write up I did:

Ok so the 7th gen mirrors do fit our cars with a bit of modification. I will run through the process that I used for the install.

The holes for the new mirrors do not match up so all 3 need to be re-drilled. I basically held the mirrors up where it needed to sit and marked the holes and drilled them through. Also there's a small plastic clip that needs to be removed, it helps hold the tweeter cover in place but also keeps the new mirrors from sitting flush.

I hoped the plug would be the same (of course it wasn't) or at least the wires would be the same colors (and they weren't) So I am waiting to get the wiring breakdown for both mirrors so I can hook up the heat, adjust and folding features.

I did want to hook up the blinkers and I knew that since the 6th gen doesn't have them I would have to hook these up from scratch. So I looked in the stickies and found which colors the wires we're because I wanted to tap into them at the BCM instead of running to the front of the car.

The wires at the BCM are as follows:Turn Signal(L) green/black + BCM, pin 45Turn Signal(R) green/yellow + BCM, pin 46Notes: The BCM (Body Control Module) is between the steering column and the fuse box.

So I simply ran wire taps to these wires:

I ran a ground wire from one of the screws inside the door. I then ran the power wire through the side outlet where all the OEM wiring goes to the door (I fed the wire through with a coat hanger, rookie style!) For the passenger side I had to run the wire all the way across under the dash, I snaked it through and used zip ties to keep it in place (I also dropped the glove box to make it easier) I then ran it through to the door with the other OEM wires as on the driver side.

(passenger side, behind the glove box)

Now the trick was to find out which wires ran the blinkers so through a long process of elimination (lucky for you!!) I figured it out. On the 7th gen mirror plug, the orange wire is the positive and the pink wire is the ground, so I again tapped into these (I didn't want to just cut any wires at this point due to the fact that I'm sure exactly how I am going to hook up the rest of the stuff later.

Considering they are from a different car the fit really well, not perfect but pretty damn close!

I dont think the mirror i have has heat cause there isnt the heat symbol on it. I would just be looking to do the turn signal and mirror adjuster

Here you go!

Courtesy of: wildman04

I did the rear door first and the rear doors are alot easier than the front doors are to do. The rear doors will take aroound 45 minutes to an hour and the front doors about two hours each, so probably allow a good day for the install. On a scale of 1 to 10 for a mod like this I would say it would be about a 4 for difficulty.

Do not post reply to this thread until I have all my posts uploaded, I have approximately 19 pictures with the details. I will have to post four times to get all information up.

Materials:

1. 4- 5mm 13,000mcd LED's (purchased mine from Ebay seller Ivehk for 3.99 plus 6.00 shipping for 50 pieces and resistors)2. 3/32" or 1/8" polyolefin heat shrink tubing3. 2 wires per door, approximately 2 1/2' per wire per door4. Solder5. Electrical tape6. 2 part epoxy glue7. Butyl tape(get at glass store) or silicone sealant

Tools:

1. Ratchet, 10mm socket and extension2. T-27 torx bit or 5/32" allen wrench3. Small flat blade srewdriver

Start with front doors and rear will be same process but easier. Pictures are all of the front door. With small screwdriver pry at marked locations below to remove cap at inside door handle, chrome strip on door panel starting at front and working to the back, window controls starting at rear edge. Lift window controls up, unplug connections and set aside all pieces.

Remove the three 10mm bolts at marked locations on door panel below. At the bottom of the door panel there is a lip, grab panel at bottom and give a quick jerk toward you and all door panel clips will release.

Now lift the door panel upward and off of door, lean panel to you to remove the latch cables behind the panel and disconnect all wiring to the door panel. Pull cables away from panel to unclip them and then seperate from the handle. Set panel aside.
