this is how a mayor makes his money in puerto rico. he taxed and fine this race track out of business. so he can pocket money from a developer to build a golf course. he even made sure a local millionare reggaeton artist don omar lost his bid to redevelope it. this track had one of the longest run off if you lost control or your brakes. it even help stop local street racing bring vehicular death down. this is one of the places where the puerto rican drifters practice. for drag racing guy this track was even with the sea level. it was gonna become a mecca for motorsports but the local goverment just wanted a golf course like there isn't like 10 more in the island

That's so stupid. I'd get some of those road rocks and throw it through the mayor's window.

That video looks like the aftermath of a run done by a really powerful car

given that puerto rico's main source of income is tourism, and that the island is in fact poor, this move might prove to be far better for the island's economy and general well being than a race track. consider that the race track was in carolina, minutes from many resorts and hotels, minutes from san juan international airport, home to a beautiful beach area. a golf course in such a prime location will bring in more revenue for the island's economy than a local race track will. if the people who frequented the track are so upset about it, someone will see the interest as a lucrative prompt to build one somewhere else. also, don omar is a joke

Don Omar is ok. I liked him more 4 years ago...Anyway, My primo tells me they may be making a track outside of San German, closer to Ponce, a little north smack in the middle. I'll take a peek next time I go visit my family

I only read the title of this thread...

From what I heard tracks in PR are disappearing more and more recently...Any truth to that?

Tego annoys the ever-living crap out of me. DY became a fake thug wannabe and I lost interest in him. I've lost all desire to listen to reggaeton honestly. I like maybe 2 songs from the last couple of years. Mas Maiz is enjoyable to me... I dunno.

Shame, looked like a sweet track but like Tito said, it makes more economic sense to build a golf course there. They're either gonna have to open up another track or deal with more street racing.

Pretty interesting, I somewhat follow racing in Puerto Rico but didnt know about mayor doing this. Not good for many reasons but I know 85% of Bacardi export come from San Juan other 15% come from Mexico but like previously said, still alot of income from tourist there

Anyone heard of Automeca? http://www.automeca.com/ wonder if they will have some weight in keeping the diferent sport and tracks open

I have family in Ponce an San Juan. I was going to export car to Puerto Rico and register so I wont have to "borrow" car when Im there but I see sometime
