I've been running the Patrol auto behind mine and with 280rwkw it has been put to the test and passed with flying colours. I have a big cooler and a Wholesale Automatics manual value body so it is basically a clutchless manual now anyway. Also when it was rebuild it was upgrade to VH45 spec which has more friction etc than a TD42 spec.Dearlove wrote:its going in a maverick, which is a re-badged GQ,think i might just keep it auto for now until i can afford adapter plate and rb gearbox.its being used for off road racing, does any one know how these gearboxes hold up?? will i have to fit a cooler to it?
Is this 6 speed box that supposedly bolts right up a manual gearbox / transmission or an automatic? We do not have the Patrol in the USA.Aus450zx wrote:I think mettler mentioned on here in the thread about if the 6 speed nissan box bolted up that only one model of Patrol box was a direct bolt on but it was a clunky box.
Your in Perth, why not get a plate off mayhem for a VG box?
Hmm I'd be very interested to know more about this transmission. I wonder if it shares any commonality with the Z33 or Z32 or pathfinder or frontier gearbox? It would be wonderful if the shifting problem were just a function of a crappy shifter/linkage/clutch setup (which is very often the case) and if the design itself is the same as one of the transmissions above a simple internal swap would be cake for me.Orphan wrote:Well the model patrol it comes off comes in auto and manual and its not like the engine bolt pattern changes so the manual would bolt up as well. I've driven a GU series manual patrol and the box left a lot to be desired so I don't think its an option unless there is another gearset/internals that swap into the casing which I doubt not to mention the gear ratio's aren't exactly performance minded.
I misunderstood an earlier post and thought that post indicated that the Patrol had a 6 speed, my mistake._XLR8_ wrote:Not wanting to disappoint but, to date, the Patrol has never had a 6 speed box. They only have a 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto with lock up. The manual gearbox from the Patrols is very different in respect to bolt patterns and bell housing compatability and to use the the manual you would still require an adaptor plate. due to the massive weight of the Patrol box, and the messing around needed to bolt it up, you would be far better off putting the time/effort into a Z series box.
Nope.Nealoc187 wrote:
The VH was offered in the Patrol, correct?
