Here is what I did in my company car, a Ford Escort wagon :
- I purchased an aftermarket dome light from an auto parts store.
- Gently removed the stock dome light (above the rear seats) and removed trim from above the rear door.
- Fished a wire behind the headliner from the cargo area to the dome light.
- Installed the dome light into the ceiling above the cargo area and wired it in parallel with the stock one.
- Attached the ground lead of the new dome light to the metal chassis.
- Replaced all the panels.
Done.
It's a bit of a tricky install... the hardest part is fishing the wire and making the appropriate connections the stock dome light. But with time and some help, it can be done.
