Has anyone with an S model Rogue looked into wiring up a trunk light? I know they took out a bunch of wiring on the S to save money but I'm wondering if it's possible to get one to turn on when the trunk is opened. The thought of buying a stick-on light is making me sick

Here is what I did in my company car, a Ford Escort wagon :

- I purchased an aftermarket dome light from an auto parts store.

- Gently removed the stock dome light (above the rear seats) and removed trim from above the rear door.

- Fished a wire behind the headliner from the cargo area to the dome light.

- Installed the dome light into the ceiling above the cargo area and wired it in parallel with the stock one.

- Attached the ground lead of the new dome light to the metal chassis.

- Replaced all the panels.

Done.

It's a bit of a tricky install... the hardest part is fishing the wire and making the appropriate connections the stock dome light. But with time and some help, it can be done.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to decide if I want to tackle this.

I bought one of those hockey-puck battery operated LED lights and 3M'd it to the side. It fits flush and all I have to do is click the small button. Lights up the cargo area like a runway. I've gotta convert the dome light to LED now but will use the existing 12V line to accomplish that.

Best,

MDH

The puck light will be my backup plan if the dome light seems like too much hassle.
