92 240sx, my engine makes a rattling sound like a spray paint can.
My engine just started making this noise the other day. Like i said it sounds like a spray paint can being shook real fast. its coming from the top of the engine near the first piston. im not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to engine stuff so bear with me. a friend that does know a little about cars says it sounds like it could be a loose rod bearing knocking around inside, i havent gone to a shop yet, havent had the time, if any one can give me any kinda tips as to what they think it might be and what i should do (besides bring it to a shop to get it looked at) let me know. thanks.

I would have to agree mine sounded like that then i found out that all the plastic was worn off the the top guide

mine made that noise and the guide was broken off and flapping around on the chain!!
