Hi i just got a couple questions sorry if they maybe newb qustions. I have a 92 Q45 body i want to put a 94 or 95 engine in it so i dont need to deal with the plastic guide issue. I know a 1996 has ob2 computer so im not even bothering with a 96 engine. I need ob1 so 94 or 95 is what im going to put in it but i perfer a 94 to be on the safe side since 96 they started obd2 for sure and some 95 cars got ob2 seen so myself. Im just asking can i put a 94 engine in my 92. I also got a another question can you use the mitsubishi crank angle sensor from 1990-93 on a 94 or 95 engine. I have seen 94 and 95 engine and they have hitachi crank angle sensors with a different plug and different location where you plug in the connector thats comming from the car than that of of the mitsubishi one. I have already have experience into swaping motors into these q45 i have already done 5 times so i know what im doing. But i just dont like the 1990-93 got plastic guides. on my past swaps i have done the guides with the engine hanging on the crane. i just want to see if i can just get a 94 engine with the updated guides so i dont need to deal with it.

Thank you

parts parts lol

finished product [IMG][/IMG]time to put the engine back in

you see these swaps i did were on 1990-93 Q45s and i just brought 1990-93 engines and did the guides than put it back in the cars. Im just tired of doing it so i want to see if i can take a shortcut this time. this will possibly be my last Q swap. These swaps are not easy without a lift. I keep the car in the air with heavy duty truck jack stands so trust me it wont fall.

It looks like you do good work on the engine swaps. As far as I know you've found the only difference in the swap- the CAS connector. Quite a few owners have done it successfully. Search and at least a few posts will come up detailing how to wire old and new connectors.

Good luck.

Thanks alot at least i know i can do it. But do you know someone who has done it? i just want to make sure 100 percent you know. i just want to make sure i can use the mitsubishi CAS on the 94 engine that comes with a hitachi CAS. i just want to make sure thats all. i dont want to regret it down the line if thats the issue i face when i try to start the engine.

You're going to have to do some reading on your own on this one. Use the SEARCH button at the top of every page and in the search word box type in ENGINE SWAP and search the Q45 forum. I got 14 hits. Do the same search in the Infiniti Online Mechanic forum and you'll get more. All the info you'll need to do the swap successfully will be there. I don't have an answer for you on switching CAS.

I think your better off finding a 1990 Q45 motor and putting it in there after you overhaul it. I think you will like it more than a 1994-1995 VH.

I recall a couple members who have done it. I believe you will need to use a couple of the female connectors off the '94 engine harness but you can keep the Hitachi CAS. THe udated '94 fuel injection is a big plus. Let us know how it turns out. There should definitely be a writeup on how to do it someplace on this site.
