i bought new struts and megan lowering springs and have succesfully installed the fronts but the rears are diffrent. the bolt that goes through the bottom of the strut has a nut on the oppisite end that is encased by slits of metal. how do you remove this bolt? i tried using a long cheater bar on a 1/2 ratchet and the nut started to push against the "slits" and bent them, now the whole bolt and nut spin and there is no room for tools to hold the nut in place. how do you guys remove your rear strurts?
you broke it. to remove the bottom bolt put a socket on it (not the nut), loosen and pull out. the nut sits there and doesn't spin. now if you can get the nut to sit still with a vise grip you'll have to get a tack weld.
do not use breaker bars because stuff gets damaged. either an impact gun or bang on the wratchet with a hammer - vibration helps loosen stubborn nuts/bolts.

Rears seem to be a b**** on these cars. I had problems with mine and alot of my buddies did as well. You can try taking a screw driver and jamming it between the nut and tab.
Or what I did buy two new ones from nissan and take a dremel and cut the old ones.
