Just wanted to update ya'll on the project some. We are running our RB25DET with T3/T04e Turbo, Greddy Intake Manifold, Infiniti Q45TB, 3 Inch and 3.5 Inch Piping throughout, FMIC, Apex-i GT spec Single Exhaust, with matching 3.5 inch custom downpipe.

Just two quick videos of a little free rev action. For those interested in why we choose the Z32 ECU? We'll I was a Z32 guy, my brother was an SR guy, and one of my best friends is Ash Powers - a Big time Z32 Tuner.

The Stock Nissan ECU's are so powerful and easy to use...once you are able to decipher it all. Well after doing our research and poking around a bit, we decided to just go with the Z32 ECU. Hell the motors were built in the same factory on virtually the same line, and the similarites between the two are numerous. The firing order is the same, most of the sensors and wires are in the same pins on the ecu connectors etc. Only 7 wire modifications were needed if I remember correctly, and its nothing black magic. Just take the two different wiring pinouts and match them up! you also have to either wire in a secondary o2 sensor or split the signal to twin inputs on the Z32 ECU. Also you need to wire in a small resistor to bypass the fuel temp sensor circuit on the Z32 ecu, since our RB does not have that.

A/F stays rock solid, power is good and comes on fun, but the car is aching for more boost. when we get some bigger injectors we'll take some quality vids and pics and post something more in depth.

Honestly its a great solution to the RB series ECU's. Tuning them is a piece of cake, and the driveability is OEM.

If you are in Florida its even better since we are here and so is Ash. oh and yes.. you can run the car on the stock ECU once you wire everything up.. just dont go around boosting like an idiot. but you can use it to drive around and what not for some time.

Engine color looks nice, car on the outside looks good too.

Is this ECU from TT or would N/A work, and RB25 Ser.I or Ser.II?

Wouldnt a ECU from Maxima with VG30DE work too?

TT and NA ecus should be the same, mostly. It depends on model year. Get a 90 or 91 ecu and you won't have any worries. The NA ecus went to 16bit first, and I think in 95 the TT went 16 bit. The info can be found in the faq on twinturbo.net.

Good news about running these with the 300zx ecu. I've been thinking about buying a 300ZX 2+2 and running a rb25 in it using as much of the stock wiring harness as possible. If I end up going through with it, I'll have to mail Ash a 300ZX ecu. I loved the tune he had done on my 300ZX TT.

i actually have been running a 300zx ecu on my rb25 for a year now, asside from some repining and tuning it runs great.

TTNAMaxima

all use the same ecu.

I'm running a turbo ecu and I hooked up my buddies with a non turbo ecu and its the same ish. Stick to 90-91 300zx ecus and you should be safe.

The Datsun above.. HAWT

Yes stick to using an early model ECU. 90,91, 92, 93, some 94's

Twin Turbo or Non Turbo (if you can stay away from the Auto ECU's, if you can't not biggie)

Non-Turbo has a 2 speed fuel pump circuitTwin Turbo has a 3 speed fuel pump circuit

But in reality, just hardwire your fuel pump to your battery and give it a constant voltage; it doesnt piss off the ecu, and it keeps the pump flowing at the right rate.

As far as tuning the car with the RB, ignition timing is MAJORLY different between the RB and the VG, but if you just needed to get your car running and driving halfway decent, then its fine..

How are ya'll tuning your cars now? Nistune? romeditor? etc?I'd love to see some videos and pics of your setups..I need to swap plugs on the car and change its oil.. then i'll be ready to make a few passes to record.. haha

Is it because the RB25 stock ecu's are too expensive to make tunable? What are some of the reasons people prefer the z32 ecu over the rb25?

In short yes they are far to expensive. There are some that can tune the rb25 ecu but its like a grand to do so. Kinda crazy considering you can repin a few pinouts and run a z32 or even a rb20 ecu and have nistune for 400.00 or other rom tunes for less.

That's exactly it.

The tuning options are just limted when you stick to the rb25 ecu.. im not a fan of tons of piggybacks, plus one of my best friends is one of the Top Z32 tuners in the country.. so thats why I went with our setup..

honestly i feel its the best way to go..

well...it wouldnt be a piggyback...it would be the same concept as tuning through a z32 ecu. The problem is it is expensive to set up the ECU for tuning. Using a z32 saves about $400 i think.

^Car looks great by the way
