There are times when I exit my M45 that the steering wheel does not left nor does the seat move back. The side mirrors work on and off as well has anyone seen or heard of this?

Thanks_

No, they are set correctly-

Also unless I move the seat back the entire way it tends to move forward about a half an inch.

There are times when the option to lift the steering wheel is not listed other times it is listed!

I think the steering wheel/seat options are only available when the car is parked, key "on", and not running.

I agree with the last statement, but that still explain the issue. Also when I open the door to get inside the steering wheel goes down then up and stays there!

There is too much tech is this car!

What needs to be replaced by your estimation?

I had sometime and played with it just about 10 min. ago. It seems that after the steering wheel lifted and seat moved back, if any part is moved manually (by accidentally hit a button), it will not operate correctly next time. The same is true for mirror.

So, if someone else has driven the car or you manually moved any part, ALL will not work properly next time, until you set it back to the correct position and let the car handles everything again.

I have a similar issue, actually just the opposite.

When I turn my car on the seat and steering wheel don't adjust automatically. My car is in the shop now (6th time for this issue) getting this addressed. After replacing all the switches and motors numerous times, they actually found a relay in the steering wheel that wasn't receiving enough voltage. In turn, it wasn't sending the signal to the motor and switch when the car was turned on.

I sure hope they are right this time

Ahh the ADP system.

This has to be one of the most complex systems in modern automobiles. In the 06+ M there are almost a dozen sensors in the drivers seat and steering wheel to determine what is where and where it needs to be. If the operation intermittantly doesn't work than an error may be recorded in the ADP control unit. Some of these faults set codes and some do not.

Something stupid like the contact switch on the recliner of the drivers seat is usually to blame as they use swing arm contact switch covered by plastic but still exposed pretty much. The same thing applies for all of the other sensors in the seat track to detect its exact position.

Diagnosing these problems can be complicated if the basics check out then it may result in a guess. I really hope all of you guys find a qualified tech to get to the bottom of this.

I'm really curious since we are on the topic. How many of the people experiencing ADP related malfunctions have had a seat track replaced for one reason or another?

I've owned my M35 since March this year, I've noticed this glitching at least twice, possibly three times. I can't ever make sense of it why it occurs. But it seems fix itself if you mess around with the settings and/or ignition and press the #1 seat setting.

I noticed in some cases the system may not adjust the seats correctly. For instance, if you open the door before the seat moves back fully, the system may not work correctly next time you get into the car. Also, if you turn off the car while in D, the system may not work correctly next time you get in. If you get in the car and get out of P before the seat stops moving it will just stop there. I see these issues once in a while and I know it is not worth running around the dealer to diagnose it. Just press the memory button to get the seat back in position.
