about half way into my first 20minute on track session, i started to get stuttering, and then the car died. it would stay running and i had to get towed off the track.

I open the hood and this is what i find.

the blue wire had seperated from the connector, so i fashioned a repair in the pits:

my new HKS BOV failed!? wtf?

the rubber stopper thing was crooked, causing not only a boost leak, but a vacuum leak.

(it's fixed in this picture... but doesnt stay fixed, will come undone once and a while now)

AND i had a boost leak at one of my couplers

So after i get those taken care of, i get back out on the track later in the day. still not running correctly (which i find again is the BOV)

but this time after i finish my session, i find that my power steering belt skipped a tooth and started to shred:

When trying to adjust the tensioner to fix it at the track, i broke the long bolt in half. so i need something to fix this. thoughts?

Wow only 7 turns in 2 miles? I bet you can MOB on this course!

Yeah, s*** happens at the track. I've thrown multiple PS belts, blown fuses, etc. I bring extra parts for all the little things I know may break.

Sucks about your BOV and PS long bolt.

How were your temps?

Ahh the good ole track to test your cars reliability.

3 years ago I spend $130 for a track day and made it 30 minutes, blew the coolant feed to my turbo. s*** happens. Bummer I know.

This last time out it cost me a grand in total damages. $275 for all day session at buttonwillow, blow an intercooler connector to high hell early on. Off to home depot for a ghetto fix so I can run at the track and I get rear ended by my friend and a stop sign. chp officer sees the whole thing, took three hours to get back to the track.... I got in like 8 good laps for a grand of total damages

You and your over-reliable LS1 can shove it.

I'm going to tackle that gremlin during next winter, but until then I'll just bring the $20 spare and replace when I see wear.

well, still being new to the motor, i didnt know for sure what that sensor that wire was for, and i just assumed i knew what i was doing when it came to the power steering long bolt...

but yeah, this is probably the best way to get all the kinks out of it and running reliably.

But anybody have any ideas what I'll need to do with that bolt broken now? how do i ensure that the pulley's are aligned correctly?

course is way fun, but is known to be tough on brakes. all of the corners are fast enough for 3rd gear.

I dont actually have a temp gauge yet. It's coming.

I would like to go there sometime, it looks like fun.

The adjuster bolt? I am not sure you even need it. I just loosen the mounting bolt and use a breaker bar to tension everything.

before you go back to any track event or even think of driving the car hard... I reccomend the following:1) degree the cams - you have the gears and its almost apart.2) refit the cam gear cover - yes, lame i know and it doesnt show off the bling bling gears but your timing belt vs an errant rock will loose.3) clean up your wiring - i dont know whats under the electical tape but it should be soldered, shrinkwrapped, and loomed up/tucked away.4) clean up hoses - loose hoses and randomly routed hoses are asking for something to chafe thru them and potentially cause a disaster.

Thanks Carl, Car is still relatively new in my hands and this is all planned work + more. lots that needs to be done.

I would have re-attached the cover (car came with it off) but i need to find the hardware to attach it first.

I'm told the swap was done by a shop out west, kinda disappointed in the wiring if so.
