Alright guys so May 9th I will going on a mini road trip to a mountain biking park near Fort Myers. During my Paintball Tournament Road Trips our caravan had our own 2-way radios/walkies talkies. Im not looking to spend big bucks and I want to purchase 4 so 2 pairs. My budget is $100-$130 for all 4.

The brands im looking at are Motorola and Cobra, I've also looked at Midland.

Now distance isn't really a concern as this is a caravan on the highway, I think we're gonna have like 10 cars, so clarity will be important.

Some of the radios im looking at.

I have a few sets of Motorolas, love them all. I got some baller ones, to lazy to look them up but they have an extended range mode. Like up to 2 miles(maybe more idk cant remember) its freaken sweet when your out on a mountain and you get split up from your boys.

Iv also taken some hard falls with the Motorolas, they are built well.

Whoever said rechargeable batteries suck doesnt read instructions very well.

I went today after work and picked up the Motorola MJ270. Walmart had them for $10 less than Best Buy so they price matched for me.

So far its a pretty cool radio, I tested it and reception in the city is about 1.5miles, but quality is good and listening to NOAA is pretty cool.

Remember, you can always buy and then return stuff if its "defective" after you get back from your trip.

LOL I've thought about that, depending if its successful or not will determine if I keep them or not. Its always nice to have in case of an emergency and we were having fun with it today so I most likely will keep them.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a federal agency focused on the condition of the oceans and the atmosphere.

NOAA has radio stations around the country that provide weather reports constantly. These radios pick up those channels and you get to listen in on them. A cool feature is if NOAA sends out an emergency broadcast the radios automatically switch to that channel.

I have an old a** motorola that I knew how to use quite well, but it doesn't work now, I've been looking at some, since you haven't had it but a day or two, would you recommend the ones you bought?
