So on the 23rd of April i was driving to work in chesterfield va, only like a 15 min drive i take at least 12 times a week. Im going down Genito Rd doing 50mph in a 45, this road is like pin straight i saw some guy like 200ft away from me that was coming the other way, but was in the left turn lane so he could take a left across the road. Instead of looking before he went like an educated, aware driver, he like creeped up a little bit while i was far away so i tapped the brakes came down to 45 and left my foot hovering on the pedal just in case. Then like after he already jumped then stopped, he re decided that he was going to go, and pulled right in front of my poor little 92 hatch. I hit the brakes a little to hard cause and locked them up like a fool, so i slid like 20ft and even with my loud squealing tires and honking horn this senior citizen didn't realize he was still like about to hit me. I don't think he hit the brakes at all he just kept on plowing. By the time we actually collided id say we were only going like 15 or 20 or something but the problem is that he was in a 1983 Oldmobile Delta 88. I meant to take some pics of his car too, so i could show the lack of damage, all it did was take out his corner light. And not even shatter, just took it out, so it needed to be screwed in again. His insurance adjustor came out already and looked over it and he couldn't give me an estimate yet he has to look up what the repairs will cost vs. the deemed value of the car to dtermine whether or not it is totalled, they are going to call me on Monday morning. Whether it is or not i will be keeping it, i have mucho parts in my room waiting to be swapped onto this car and its just some body work, half of which was going to be replaced soon anyways (hood, front bumper, paint, lip). I've done all the work on the car myself by researching and by figuring it out but i've never done anything too serious too it, like the oil splatter inclines...i'll be swapping in an sr soon so i'm not too worried about it just wanted the KA to last me a bit longer....it does have 237500 on it. I'm in a rental (sentra) and buying a dd (heap pontiac sunbird) soon so i can take apart the 240 and swap/build it. Still a very s***ty time/situation. I think the tie rod or control arm is bent too because the wheel looks bent and pulls in that direction. A couple questions:1. Anyone know a good place to find those little plastic/fiberglass things that attach to the front fenders to flow w/the front bumper lines? Heh dont know how else to describe it maybe its called a valence? 2.The second question is for the picture with the oil splatter underneath the starter...what is that coming from? Maybe like a ccrankcase seal or rear main seal or something? It looks so low like right where engine meets transmission.3. Also, maybe there is like a short in the headlight? Because i went to see if they worked and only the passenger side came up, but when i took the key out and hit the button not only did the passenger one stay stuck up, but the driver one kept engaging and trying to lift only to get like an inch or two up. Even with the key out. It was so sad she kept trying so hard...I helped her out and just disconnected her battery so i didn't kill it. Any ideas?Sorry about the gigantic wall of text that went along with this post, just needed to fully explain. Her name is Selene, to explain the title. Here is the sad part, the pictures:You can see the Oldsmobile and the old man that did it in this picture:You can see where the bolts for the one side of the bumper support are popped out, and one side of the fan shroud cracked while the other just popped out ):These next three are what im most concerned about, oil leakings never good, can anyone tell from the picture where this may have splattered from? it was fresh wet it happened from the accident on the passenger side under the starter, heres a farther pic for refrence where it is and a close up of the splatter:

)= Sad day overall, i guess a small list to start would be:-Front bumper cover-Amber light-Side marker light-Fender-Fender attachment...(valence?)-Wheel well liner piece-Lip (already have an east bear lip in my room)-Headlight-Fan Shroud-Tie rod/control arm-Hood (don't NEED one i could fix this one, but was planning on going cf anyways.)-Some sort of seal/gasket

Thats all i can think of right now, the list of parts i need to finish this thing gets longer everyday i wonder if ill ever finish it :\

Wow, that sucks dude. Haha, I got rear-ended by this old lady who blacked out while driving (55mph!!). I was at a red light and it shoved my poor car under an Explorer..needless to say my poor car got totaled from both ends. At least your car gets some downtime to be modded so maybe this is a blessing in disguise.

Old people are the biggest threat on the road.

i dont know about that being oil. looks way to thick and theres more poblems if the oil looks like that. kinda like a muck. and you can see some of it has been on there for a while, up towards the top its dried alittle. id think aobut something else than oil. does it have a smell to it.

There's no damn axle in the front man . More likely goo from then engine mounts (I've heard that the stock mounts are filled with that crap)

the goo could be the crap from inside the motor mounts (they are gel filled). mine exploded one day, and it looked like that. rock your motor back and forth and look for a dead mount

UPDATE:Its been like a month now, (today is my 21st birthday) and i've finally gotten her squared away-ish. The insurance company deemed it a total loss, and said it was worth like 2200 dollars. Then they subtracted $300 for 'prior damage' to the car (very minor dings and faded paint), so they were planning on giving me $1900 and taking the car since it was totalled, so i had to buy it back for $195 which is what they said they would have got if they sold it as-is(wrecked condition) at an auction. So i got like 1700 dollars for it. I already had a bunch of parts sitting in my room and i just ordered 1800 dollars more, i plan on swapping in an sr20det. Its very un-original, but its my first swap so i wanted an easier one and cheaper one as well. I'll keep and rebuild my ka until i feel like swapping it back in all rebuilt ka-t style, but that will be years down the road, of enjoying the sr20...Ive got everything i need now except for the motor itself, which ill order from jsa motors to avoid getting screwed. While im taking my time putting the engine in and fixing all the things that go wrong ill be saving still(i put about $750 a month away for Selene every month) and put stance coilovers, new control arms, tie rods, tension rods, etc. My brothers father-in-law is going to help me paint it for cost of paint after i do all the prep myself, which ill be starting next week, just need some bondo and sandpaper and stuff. She'll be white..i may do the roof black though...and hood cf...Anyways i didn't have money for towing, and since it wasn't oil, i decided i should just try driving it. Boy am i an idiot. Heh well, it got there i guess...It's only like a 10 minute drive in a car that works. The engine itself was fine, running like the champ she always is, but i have never steered a car like this, and ive driven on a couple bent control arm/tie rods. It wasn't just pulling hard in one direction, it was pulling hard in different directions depending on which way the road angled, and when i went to steer to correct it, like it kind of steered that way but i got to full lock and had to un-turn, then re turn the wheel again to get it to go that way. I felt like i was in the Limp biskit music video 'rollin' where he's like steering 12 inchs to the left and then to the right just to keep the car in a straight line. I am going to replace tie rods and maybe control arms if they look bent, but i think its something worse. Could i maybe have broken some teeth off of the intermediate shaft or something? Or off of the steering rack itself? When i pull the engine it may be easier to see what is wrong but i thought maybe someone could tell me just from that. My house has a gravel driveway and a ditch out front so no working on cars, thats why i had to drive it to a frind of my brothers house who has an extra space in a garage for $50 a month. Good deal =) But this is what it looked like when i got there: (2 hours after actually forgot to get a good before shot)So i made some room for my baby(5 hours later):

Again with the loong post i always do that..sorry.
