Is there anything special to be done? The guy at discount tire said that if you rotate your tires the computer will still think (for example) the Front left is still at the front left even though it maybe moved to the Right Rear. He said something about the system having to be reset for it to work right. Anyone know anything about this?

Check your owners manual, it'll tell you what is needed to be done. I honestly never even considered this when I rotated my tires recently. Now you are making me wonder.

So I checked - and this is what the manual says...

When a spare tire is mounted, a wheel isreplaced or a tire rotation is performed, tire pressure will not be indicated on thedisplay and the low tire pressurewarning system will not function. Resetthe system by driving the vehicle at over25 MPH (40 km/h) for approximately 10minutes. If tire pressure is not indicatedafter performing the resetting procedureabove, contact an INFINITI dealer assoon as possible.

Ah...okay thanks. I will probably have a tire rotation done within the next month or so I just wanted to be prepared.

It depends what year M you have. If you have a 08 and up, itll recognize what wheel is where and set itself...06 and 07 you have to get sensors programmed by the dealer or anywhere that has a registration tool.

Ly5598, You have said that for the 2006 and 2007, you need to take it to a dealer to have th sensors programmed. Like Ken in Arizona (who has a 2006) , my Owner's Manual for my 2007 M45 says the same thing: to reset after having your tire changed, you just need to drive over 25 mph. You only need to take it to a dealer if for some reason this fails to work.

I had an 05 fx35 and i go tthe tires rotated and THOUGHT it was fine, however as soon as I had a low tire it got confusing because the order on the owners manual was no longer correct, the sensors were indicating the wrong tire positions, I'm hesitant to rotate in my 08 m45x because of this

Only one way to find out - have them rotated and see what happens. Air one up and see if it reads correctly.

On your '06, when your tires were rotated from from front to back etc., did they just move the TPMS transmitters w/the tires, or did they change them out so that they would be in the same positions before the rotation?

They moved everything as one unit (wheel, tire, and transmitters). The tires never came off the wheels. I know they moved everything because I watched them. My rear tires used to always read 1 psi higher than the front. Now the fronts read 1 psi higher than the rear.

So basically you are saying that even the '06 recognizes the location of the TPMS transmitters and will auto adjust after driving it a bit. But then this is what the manual says as well. So what's all the hysteria about them needing to be reset @ the dealer?

Following is an email I received from my local Infiniti Service department in New Jersey. Take it for what it's worth.....BTW, I emailed him in reference to my 2008 M35x:

"On the m-series vehicles there system is designed to inform you of the location of the affected tire. when the tires are rotated the vehicle has a second sensor system which identify the tires in there new location, this process takes approx 100 to 200 miles of driving before that identification is accomplished. during the identification process the display will show " **** " instead of the tire pressure. you do not have to have this process done at a dealer, however when done here we also high speed and road force balance all tires and we reset the tpm system to try to lessen or eliminate the wait time for the identification process."

I'm up for a tire rotation at next oil change, probably in the fall.

Wow - this is an old thread but here's my take.

Just replaced my wheels and switched out the tpms from the stock wheels to the new wheels. The system displayed **** until I had the vehicle driven for more than 10 minutes over 25mph. I timed it and it really only took 9 min of driving, luckily I have a 15min stretch of highway to get home.

does anyone know the wheel order on the TPS display? 2004 M45 just gives a vertical tabulation without wheel designation

I have an 06 M45 sport. I rotated the tires myself today and after driving about 10 miles (10 minutes) on the interstate they all re-registered just fine. I know it is accurate too. My left front was at 32 and all the others at 33. Now the left rear is at 32.

On my 06 M35, I replaced my tires and it took 500 mile highway trip to recognize TPS. Recently had tires rotated and they would not reset at all, so I had to pay a visit to a Nissan dealor.
