Per my Title I am not interested in turning this posting into a debate on if 22" inch rims are simply too big for a QX4 based on look unless you have a QX4 or Pathfinder and have 22" rims. Opinions are fine however I am looking for some facts right now; not preferences.

I have a 1964 Lincoln Continental as well, the Lincoln Forum I use has a place for "Customizations" and another for "Restoration" so the differing options have a home. Here we could add "Off Road" which I never do unless making an illegal U-Turn over a median. Sorry to sound so straight up, but I want straight up answers and in reading some of the old topics on 22's on anything there is obviously two different preferences here.

Here are the facts:- I have had two QX4's over the last 11 years, my first one was a 1998 and I got rid of it over the more powerful 2001. -Both had 20" rims on them so I am familiar with the pro's and con's of aftermarket rims. -I was forced off the road destroying two tires and rims, they are SHOT and need to be replaced; however these wheels are no longer made-This is an insurance claim, I'll be compensated for two of them + some-I don't want Chrome, but I cannot find any other color in my size, price range, something I like- I want something sporty, but not overdone I am going for a look that could appear stock to 25% of the population(none of you, but your mothers.. not looking for your mothers) I want it too look as if I had some kind of sport packaged QX4 or something- I don't drive my truck that much, I have two other cars (I30) I use but most of the time I take the Bus/Metro to work (Northern VA, DC)- I will insure the rims again, and put road hazard on the tires- I had Eagle GT's for 10 years- I live in a safe place - I think you are all great- I found these two in my last 24 hours of searching, the first is priceyOption #1: https://www.wheelfire.com/scon...ndard

Option #2: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors..._1593 BEST PHOTO, PRICED ONLINE...

For the 20's and 22" owners?Question #1 - If you have had 22" rims on your path or QX4 for at least 6 months what is your opinion? Would you recommend it againQuestion #2 - 9-10 Years of 20"s should I expect a huge difference? braking, transmission wear, ride, etc. etc.?Quesiton #3 - Are you familiar with any of these tires? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...t=All

never had 20's or 22's but i have considered it. In my opinion, I like option 2 better.

option 1 looks better suited for a car like a BMW 5 series.

i would recommend the 22''s i have some with falken tire st04 and they ride better than stock, doesn't feel like a suv, braking to me is the same but i have aluminum rims

however if i were to do it all over again i would go with 24'' they look like they fit better, 22''s look small after a while, when i was looking i was under the impression i had to raise the truck 2'' to fit 24's, to this day i am still not sure, personally i would go with a black rim with chrome lip, chrome rims are alot of work, but # 2, deep dish is a plus

i don't really see why braking comes up as an issue as these things were meant to tow

Question #1 - I would like to wrap them in slightly larger rubber. I wouldn't recommend or advise against it since it's all up to personal taste.

Question #2 - Generally, the lower the profile of tire, the faster it wears. I drive more cautiously on 22's, but I havn't noticed any difference in braking. Ride is stiffer but not undesireable.

Quesiton #3 - Yes I have the Yokohama Parada Spec-X. No complaints. They've held up well to the abuse of the roads around here.

I think your right, I like them but I do not know in application if these are the right look for my truck. They would be nice on a BMW or an M3 as you mentioned. Thanks!

I wanted black with a chrome lip, but I think this would better looking on a different color truck than mine, I have the dark grey but I do have a black interior.

Thanks I don't think I am ready for a 24" in the DC area even if I don't drive much. I do agree that you do get use to them and one day when you come outside... they just look small?

WINNIPEGS_MOST_WANTED I sent you a PM as well, so what size tire would you go with?

265/35R22 is what I'm running. Any bigger and you'll have to do some form of modifications to prevent rubbing.

I think when it comes time for my next rubber I'll raise my truck to squeeze some more rubber between the rim and the road.

Are we talking about modifications to the plastic piece in the front wheel well? What does raising it entail? cost, hardware, etc?
