Dunno if anyone's come across this yet, but I was speculating if all body types have an XM radio antenna already built into the existing factory roof antenna. I would imagine so (hopefully) seeing as how I seriously doubt having two different antennaes. One with XM and one without. If so, where would the actual connection be found. Behind the head unit or tucked up somewhere's else. Just throwing a shot out in the dark.

Okay, so maybe I should've checked the forum for this topic. I see there's already been a post by philpa (this guy is a GOD). So it would appear that I would need to swap out the antenna to one with XM. Now my next question is, is this connector compatible with an aftermarket XM tuner? Again, I assume so... but look where that got me last time. If anyone need further detail. I'm installing an Alpine deck with XM tuner.

The factory sat radio is installed on the LH side of the rear cargo area. The connectors are proprietary to Nissan. You have 2 problems then:

1) The factory cable is too short. It would have to be extended to reach the front of the vehicle.

2) The Nissan cable is a 1 pin rectangular plug. Most XM recievers use round SMB connectors. I have not seen any adapters for this. You would have to somehow fabricate your own cable and splice it.

Even if you solve these issues, there is no guarantee it would work. The OEM Nissan antenna has a built in amplifier, etc. I am unsure if it would be compatible with anything other than the OEM Nissan XM tuner.

Good luck!

After selling my pioneer nav unit I didn't decide what do I want instead of that. But while deciding I wanted to continue listening XM. The nissan XM tuner I think is kinda too expensive. XM offered me for $9.95 EZconnect unit and here's what I got:I hired all the wires under the radio including the antenna. And still thinking what should I do with aux wire. Should I just tie it up to the radio or find something shorter than that?

Yeah that looks pretty clean for what you had to work with, great job. I have a Sirius set up similar to yours, but the difference is that mine connects to the windshield with a suction cup, so I can't hide the wires like your install, so I'm happy with my system even though the wires are pretty ugly, but comparitively yours is really nice...... A nice integrated unit would be nice at some point, but leveraging the aux input is WAY better than my setup in the old car that used the fm transmitter, those things are a pain in the butt!
