Welp I will start a new thread so I can keep all my 2JZ stuff together. All my build post can also be found in my car related blog http://borhor.wordpress.com/

After I blew my rings in my supercharged KA24de I figured it was time to do a 2jz! I am starting with cleaning the engine bay since there is oil all over the place. I am also going to paint it. I already ordered the Tech2 mounting kit. I still need to decide if I am going to put in GE motor for temporary use or just going to put a GTE straight up. All my work is being done at VEX Motorsports

A 2JZ in a S13 droptop.. I love it!

I'm assuming it's a GTE and not just a GE?

Right now I am not sure. But we have a GE sitting in the shop so I might use just to get the car rolling. But there should be a GTE in by this summer if I do go that route.

The GE is a nice motor to turbo later. From what little I know about it, it sounds like a metal headgasket is about all it needs to make well over 500 hp in stock form.

Sounds like you'll be going with the 5 spd tranny either way? Those 6 spd. getrag's are expensive!

I can't wait to watch this build. Please take lots of pics and post updates frequently!!!

I don't plan on keeping this motor to turbo. I will find another motor and use USDM twins and injectors and I should be at 400HP of fun

I'm dissapointed you're not sticking with the supercharged KA, but I've got a soft spot for it.

2JZ is a cool swap though. Looking forward to the rest of the build thread!

Good luck.

i always had a feeling your bay was a dirty girl behind that KA. Guess it's the process of cleaning her up.

Gonna be awesome. GL

correct me if im wrong but isnt the n/a 2jz block is stronger... just not the internals...

iirc all the fast supras like ryan woon's supra runs built internals, n/a 2jz block, and the tt head

Physically the short blocks are the same, internals are different, deck height is higher on the ge motor. The GE dont get the oil squiters and they dont have the oil feed on the outside of the block for the turbos or the waterway on the other side for the oil cooler

So today I ripped out stuff that I do not need and cleaned it out more. Next will be welding up some of the holes and places that need to be covered out. Nick helped me today with ripping out the battery tray. I was relieved to find the rust under there was just surface. I test painted part of the radiator support to see how the paint will come out. I hope to have the passenger side fender cleared off tomorrow. Welding should be done Monday and I hope to get paint started too.

You don't happen to still have your supercharger do you? I've been wanting to go that route with my vert.

I do actually. I am looking for a buyer right now. $2000 obo for all the full kit - everything needed to put it on + e-manged tuned for S13

How'd you blow the rings anyway? Makes me think I should focus on other things (LSD, brakes, internals) before forced induction.

You should. Power without control is worth little.

What I meant was the black haha. I am going to paint the car sometime this year though. I thinking of going something alone the lines of midnight purple.

Today we welded some of the holes and started stitch welding the chassis. We didn't get to far though, maybe we will finish tomorrow. I also picked up a R154 tranny with a 1JZ bell housing. That brings be much closer to all the parts needed. I am mainly waiting on the mounting kit now. I should give Tech2 a call tomorrow.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you opted to hammer out the wheel well as opposed to fabbing your own. How much clearance did you gain? Was it worth it?

I actually did not mod the fender at all. All I did was weld the holes.

Out of interest, how are you gonna manage the change in weight distribution? I figure the 2JZ-G(T)E has to weigh a substantial amount more than the KA24DE, as I believe a KA24DE weighs similar to a Toyota 4Axx, which is a common "swap out" for these 2JZs (Even though I've only ever seen one completed) Granted the 240SX 'vert weighs a fair bit more than the Corolla, so that may help the balance a fair bit. Anyway, good luck (also, I'm amazed this has gone this far without the 2JZ swap/2JZ swap w/NAS picture)
