I doubt you will find someone who would pay to downgrade their headlights.

Well lets just say your Low beam HID bulb burns out and instead of buying a new pair of 4300k HID replacement bulbs you decide to get a pair of 6000k HID bulbs (note that you dont need to mod anything its the exact same as bulb as 4300k but just 6000k...) now thats a downgrade isnt it

YES, that would be a downgrade in the amount of candlepower{brightness for nubes} DO some research! The higher the color temperature{rated in kelvins....as in 4300K or 6000K, etc} the less candlepower the bulb produces for the same wattage. So your 35W 6000K bulb will produce LESS light than a 35w 4300K bulb.Gets dimmer and dimmer the higher K you go......

That is correct. You cannot look at like a wattage figure. If you were looking to just change the color appearance, then you would need to move up higher into the Kelvin range. If you just want brighter and your satisfied with the HID bulb's color, just move up to a higher watt HID bulb if it is available. Though I'm not sure about the heat output level differences being safe enough.

Good luck.

I replace my stock 4300K with a pair of high end 6000K bulb. I can say the useful light decreases for at least 35%, but it looks nicer.

I've changed mine and the fogs to 10K. while not the brightest in output driving thru the mountains in the dark with both on I see plenty. lights up the road just fine. If I had to do over I will go 8K.

How long did it take you to install them? Headlight and Fog?i heard you must remove the tires and jack up the car to get to the headlight & fog lights.

any detail instruction? do you think it can be done without removing the tire and jack up the car, such as turning the wheel one direction?

I have done the fogs without jacking the car up or removing tire. People tell you that because of the 6 screws you need to take out that hold on the front lower spoiler and front of the heat shield. Once that is lowered down enough, you can reach up and get a socket in to looses the two nuts holding each fog. Its really simple.

As far as the headlights, im pretty sure you can do from under the hood. Ill have to look tomorrow.

to do the headlights you have to remove the underwheel cover so taking off the tire just makes it easier.

replacing bulbs on the M sucks. The only bulb you can easily change from the engine bay is the running/parking light bulb.

the high and headlight bulbs can't be reached from the engine bay, like RM stated, you need to remove teh wheel liner - taking the wheels off, would make it waaaaaaaaaaaay easier as well. But I guess you can turn your wheel all the way to one side and squeeze in there...

I have a Y34 and I just put in 10,000k bulbs due to a bulb blowing and got these for $60 for the pair and the stocks are $60 a piece. I would NOT recommend it. I am actually putting 6,000k's in instead due to the lack of light these produce and they are just tooooooooo blue for my liking.

It was a pain in the @$$ to do the bulbs in the Y34. You have to take off the front grill which is really easy, there is a bolt under the grill and then two on top of the light in plain sight. The real PIA is the last bolt is behind the side of the front bumper. You need to turn your wheel in and undo the one screw at the bottom of the wheel well shield, one you do that there are two bolts up where the bumper meets the fender, one is very easy to get to and right above, the other is in a bit more and the turn signal gets in the way. I used a long phillips bit to get it out. Once you do that you can pull the side of the bumper down enough to get to the last bolt... Hope that helps.........

Here is a pic of the 10,000k's. I will take more of the 6,000k's when I put them in.............

holy crap batman, that is ba-lue. I even think 8k is too blue. An amusing thing, yet not so amusing thing when they're on my tail, is to see hondas with the purple kits and their light "beam" is going everywhere because they don't have projector housings....

There is no need to take off the bumper!!! I did mine in like 10 mins with no problem. I used Philips Ultinon 6000K bulbs, they may be a SLIGHT less output but they light up the street signs and markings ALOT more than the stock 4300K

How bout sharing your secret instead of just saying there is no need haha. I have to change mine out again and 10 minutes sounds alot better then 30. You can't remove the houseing without getting to the bolt behind the corner of the bumper. Did you do it without pulling out the headlight assembly? Elaborate a bit for us please....................

You shouldn't raise the color temperature of your headlights. Infiniti used 4200 K for a good reason: The atmosphere scatters blue light 7 times more than red light. That's why the sky is blue. Especially in weather, the light is being scattered back to you. It also puts a huge halo around your lights that blinds oncoming drivers. If you don't think that is YOUR problem, then consider this: If he's blinded, and hits you, you could be dead, real soon.

No need to take the bumper or headlights out. I was able to sneak my hands right behind the headlight assy. I mean dont get me wrong its a bit tight back there but I like to get things done and not fuss around too much. My source is "akinaboy" do a search for him on Ebay and if he doesnt have any listed then email him and see what he can do. Philips Ultinons are quite a bit more expensive than OEM temp Philips or Osram bulbs but I wouldnt use any other bulb, personally.cheersP.S. My LED tails are for sale if anybody is interested, PM me for details

So I changed out my 10k's for some 6k's, much more to my liking. Not a fan of the blue look. I did do the change without taking off the bumper. On the driver side you just have to start from the opening behind the airbox and snake your arm up to the housing, on the pass side I took out my battery and it was simple after that. Just a bit of a tip for people trying this. The little metal piece the comes off the bulb faces down. When you are trying to put these in blindly knowing that helps.

Also if anyone is interested in my 10k (Blue) bulbs that are in the picture up top, They are yours for $45 shipped. They where in for less then 2 months and they have a lifetime warranty. Anyone interested let me know. [email protected]

10K! ghezzzz. I think the 6ks are perfect. It may be less output in theory, but it does produce more light in the streets while driving at night, especially when coming up on those green reflective freeway signs. When I put mine in I had no issues except for the task of removing the battery on the passenger side.

Like Boon said... make sure the metal piece faces down and make sure your clips are on correctly to ensure that the bulbs are not floating around. And please put the plastic caps back on to prevent dust.
