I work downtown here and the main parking lot is just about always full.So I practically have to park 2 sometimes 3 blocks down then walk to the building. Some people have gotten their cars vandalized and its not under video surveillance like the main lot is. at the edge of the main lot there are a set of garages that were for rent. I like to work on my car and most of my progress has been slowed/halted by weather and places to leave the car half done for the night. It's $60/month electric included and comes with a garage door opener. It would give me a covered place to work, a place to lock her up, extra storage, permanent front parking space at work my personal hangout for a few buddies. It's probably only 250' from the building that I work at.

So what do you guys/girls think?

You already listed all the pros so I say go for it especially if money isn't an issue. FInd out if you are allowed to do work on your car while in the garage first. I screwing hate vandals

Definitely a clever way to have a safe place to park and work on your car. However, I would get references from the person renting it to you (you make it sound like it's a bad area). That way you don't come back and find your tools and your car(s) stolen. If it all checks out, go for it!

Do it! Is it covered by the main lot's security cam?

Sounds like a pretty good deal, but the space look a little narrow to do any real work, just be careful. And yes make sure it's a reliable source.

The door shuts via remote door opener and the front latch locks too.I have worked here about two years and I watched deal go down on my way out to my car one night (I get off at about 10:30pm). I'm not an idiot, I know what they were doing. nothing has happened to my car personally... yet. Its not entirely that bad but the whole city in general can get sketchy, and other people's cars had a milkshake dumped on one and windows bashed out.Granted those people probably brought that on themselves.

It's just out of view of the camera, but actually there's another along the back side of the building that points right at the garage. I don't know for sure if they work but I would think they do. It's the ISP of our area, basically headquarters. I set off the electronic door locks off one night when went out for a smoke and had three cruisers cornering me in.

three door, enough room for four cars..you'd be crazy NOT to hit that up, i know storage units and single car garages that go for 100+ a month.

i've been looking for something similar, ugh, lucky

that would be nice but it's really only for the first one on the right. I would buy that whole building from the guy if I could. Knock out the walls and have a nice setup. The inner walls aren't supporting the roof they are basically partitions.

$60 a month? If you can work on your car in there then hell yeah. That's cheap man.

My friend and I split a two car garage storage for $135 a month (electric paid and we can work on the cars in there.)

I'll be changing the frequency/code on the remote. I'm not too paranoid about the guy. Its a busy part of town as it is. Granted that doesn't mean much, I feel it will be ok. If he isn't going to make me sign anything I will draw one up for him. Not just going to pay the guy and not get proof. I can't wait, I should be in on Friday. I'll take pics

Well, last winter I missed out on the garage. This year I wasn't going to let that happen. So as soon as I saw it was for rent I snatched it up.

Went up a little in price, now $65/month. Whatever still a good deal.

I'll mainly be using this for storage and parking for my other 240 coupe I also recently acquired. I am not allowed to have a non-running non-inspected car at my apartment.

Parked my current 240 in to check out the fit.

Has electric, but not paying for it so doesn't want us (yes, us) using it all that much. I am sharing the 2 stall garage with the tenant of the house behind the garage. Seems to be an ok guy, there's an understanding that neither of us are going to touch the other's stuff.

Those cars out there are literally the beginning of the small parking lot out front of my work. So that's pimp.

The new 240 will become my track/street car and will be mostly stripped. That means parts for you guys

Yep, normal stuff, no heavy body work or engine swaps. The other 240 I have is all in pieces inside and out. Ran pretty damn good before they took it apart, figured I can piece it together at my leisure, the engine and transmission are still in it. So it will be easy (at least I hope) I don't really own any power tool myself. and won't really need them.

Nice...glad you were able to pick it up this time around. Regardless about the electricity sure does beat working out in the open in the next couple of months.

Butler is a small city, personally I don't think they should be allowed to call themselves a "city" but it's right on main street practically
