Ive asked these questions before and no one has taken the time to answer them and my time is running out. I only have one week left before my temporary movement permit expires and I need to pass smog which I cant because my ecu is throwing codes. So here is the problems with pictures included so you guys can see what im talking about and id greatly appreciate your help so I can get my 240 registered.

Code 21: Ignition signal in the primary circuit is not being entered to the ECU during cranking or tuning.

What could cause this? Could it be because the previous owner installed an aftermarket MSD Ignition and coil? I dont have instructions for it so im not sure if it was installed correctly. Here is a pichttp://i74.photobucket.com/alb...n.jpgAlso the spark plug wires are oem Yazuki Plugs. Are these plugs solid core, hellical, or spiral bound? The msd ignition website states that you should not use solid core plugs with their ingnition box so this could be a problem if my plugs are in fact solid core.

Also with this hooked up my tach doesnt work...If I purchased ($65) the stupid tach adapter and installed it would it make my stock tach work again? The websites states its to hook up aftermarket tachs like a autometer not the oem tach.

Also wired into the MSD system there are 3 plugs sitting underneath my injen air filter...2 or which are not plugged into anything and 1 thats plugged into something that looks similar to a honda MAF. What are they for?http://i74.photobucket.com/alb...s.jpg

Also my ecu is throwing the EGR Code:I found the EGR next to the intake manifold and I wanted to remove it so I can try and clean it with carb cleaner which ive found threads on doing a search but there are no pics showing exactly what part of the EGR I am suppose to clean. I removed 3 bolts on the passenger side that I could see for removal but I have absolutly no access to any bolts on the opposite side. I have skinny arms and I cannot get my hands down in there to feel where the other bolts are and my fuel rail as well as several other things are directly in the way. Would I have to remove everything just to clean the EGR?http://i74.photobucket.com/alb...R.jpg

well i may be wrong here but if the crank angle sensor isn't connected anymore that may throw the code.I see the ignition control module in the second pic, is it just dangling in there? If your car is still na then the whole msd system was a waste of money. The stock ignition is plenty hot.If you are running na you may contemplate removing the msd system and going back to stock ignition.

ya those plugs are just dangling there under the air filter...I didnt install the msd the person who owned the car previously installed it and I just bought the car last week so I dont have the original ignition parts...and on top of that they wired the msd into all kinds of crap throughout the entire wiring harness which causes a whole nother problem.
