I know that technically, you're supposed to turn the key to the "on" position to let the fuel pump run for a second, but every car I've had or seen you can just turn right to start and the car would start right up. But with my 99 maxima, with a new starter, if I don't turn the key to "on" for a second or two, the car won't start right away and/or I get a LOUD high-pitched squeel. This squeel is happening more now, even when I do let the fuel pump run. And now I have the problem of the car stalling immediately after I start it. When I start it, and the rpm's raise to about 1500 like it should, then drops down closer to idle, it drops too far and stalls.
This is what I'm thinking...idle control for the stall issue, fuel pump for the not-starting issue, and what for the squeel?
My car has 133k miles now, so I think it's a good idea to get a new fuel pump anyway.
Thanks guys!
