move what over one space ?240life wrote:it is on the solenoid post. move it over one space, once you do that your ignition will control everything.
so a blown solenoid causes sparks to shoot out ?Kalypso123 wrote:I blew my solenoid before.
replacing the solenoid... or rebuilding the starter and adding new brushes all in one isnt hard and its a good Idea.
Your power wire, it sounds like it is connected to the wrong post on your starter, which is sendingf a 12v signal causing your starter to spin but not engage as soon as you hook up your battery, i just did the same thing recently. If you remove your starter it will have 2 posts, the upper one will connect your starter to your solenoid, the bottom one recieves the 12v from your battery.migsk8 wrote:move what over one space ?
on a S13 STARTER the bottom post is what the 12v source is attached to, so when you turn your key it activates the solenoid, don't listen to me if you don't want to but the only way your solenoid will activate the starter with out the ignition is if it is seeing a 12v signalmigsk8 wrote:i only have the power wire and the plug, power goes to the top post bottom post is unused and then you just plug in the plug. but i took the starter to advanced auto and they told me its not putting out any amps..................whatever that means, but it comes out and spins like its suppose to.
p.s. im pretty sure te bottom post is unused, can anybody confirm ?
Higher post is the solenoid leadLower post is battery 12vmetal tab is a groundmigsk8 wrote:hey you guys never answered my question, ill re explain, ok pretent the the starter is hooked up to the transmission and you are under the car
higher post connects to -???lower post connects to -?????piece of medal connects to- the only plug*
i only have one wire and one plug, and everytime i plug in the battery the starter goes off, so according to you the only wire that i have shold be plugged into the bottom post and the top should be the solenoid lead ?240life wrote:

there is 2 post, theres no "other one" theres 2austins240 wrote:hook the big wire up to the other nut/stud on your solenoid on your starter. like the others have said.

are you thick?
well since it was in the car it was hard to see the problem, but the wire between the head and the solenoid were loose, the starter works now, buts its lazy and it gets stuck sometimesKalypso123 wrote:did you read my DYI
