So, It's been a while since I have added anything to my audio system at home. Since I blew the amp for my JBL home sub I have simply used my towers and luckily they have plenty of bass but there is something missing. So, I've started looking into slowly upgrading my home system and the sub is the first thing.

I just ordered a AudioSource AMP300:

I plan on using this with a DVC sub at 8ohm bridged load for 470w RMS. I will initially use the TL 12" sub I have and will use the JBL enclosure. At some point later I will make my own hardwood enclosure for the sub (or whatever sub I eventually buy). As this amp is a 2x I can always use it for something else down the line if I decide to change plans.

Next step will be upgrading my receiver. At this point I am looking at either the Pioneer Elite VSX-94txh or the SC-07. Depends on the price. Initially I will use the built-in amplification but I'm considering adding something similar to a Parasound 5250. From a speaker perspective I'm leaning towards B&W's at this point but may look at Axiom or Klipsh Reference.

Only time will tell and good deals will steer me.

I love the Pioneer receivers. I bought one a couple years ago (the model eludes me right now...) and it has been the best receiver ever. Hell, I think it blows the Bose receivers out of the water. Good choice

I've also always been a fan of Polk's for the speakers.

I have an older Pioneer A/V receiver right now (VSX-D509s) and it's pretty easy to use which is nice.

I finally have the wifes system done so it's time for mine. She has the complete Boston Acoustics set VR2 towers, VR center channel and rear VR dipole surrounds with XB6 sub. We upgraded her receiver to a Kenwood KRF-X9090D which was their top-end THX receiver before they pulled out of the US market and she has Sovereign CD and DVD players. She's a big Kenwood fan. Problem I have with her Kenwood (and the one she had prior) is they are a pain in the azz to configure and she spends more time messing with settings for things to sound the way she wants them than she does listening to music.

Hey audi, Emotiva has their "Christmas" sale going on right now. They make very nice amps, if you're looking for a power amp like the Parasound 5250, this amp will be VERY comparable for less than half price. It's what I'm looking at to power my center channel and mids and tweet on my L/R's

http://www.emotiva.com/xpa5.shtm

4 ohm rating: 5 channels - 4 ohm = 350 watts per channel 4 channels - 4 ohm = 375 watts per channel 3 channels - 4 ohm = 400 watts per channel 2 channels - 4 ohm = 450 watts per channel 1 channel - 4 ohms = 500 watts per channel

THD+N at rated power output: 0.007% S/N ratio: >100db Frequency response: 10 to 120Khz (-3db) and 20 to 20 (with less than .15db deviation) Gain structure: 32db Transformer size: 1600VA Toroid Secondary capacitance: 60,000uF Weight: Approximately 70 pounds

Nice

Looks like things are put on hold for further upgrades. Wife is spending over $5k on some carpeting and 5 new basement windows so I will have to wait until after Xmas to catch good sales. Since I finally have her A/V setup complete she is onto spending money elsewhere. Damn women

Ohh, I do love new carpet. So nice to sleep on with that industrial style clean smell.

Well keep your eyes open after Christmas, and don't forget Earthquake Cinenova and ADA. You might be able to find some deals on used gear?
