Well Gang, I never really got a chance to post my pics of my vert when I first got it. I thought it might be a good time to show my build (if you want to call it that )My First Day that I got my Vert (1999)

My First Day with son (Noah - age 2 1/2) Ha Ha - didn't realize but a Honda in the background..

When I started to build it (note - big ole dent in hood and fender on passenger side - thanks tornado)

Yea !! Parts arrive summer of 2005

Silvia Front Done !

2nd shot (notice the Old Ford in background)

Time to clean the motor (waiting for KA to die or trans whichever comes first)

Cleaning begins

All clean - eh needs a touch of paint

More painting... help I can't stop

KA finally dies (water pump shaft broke - sounded nasty) Time to pull motor.. ha ha another Honda in background.

Time to paint the engine (really I just like paint fumes...shhh)

Motor's in

Now for the last month or so I've kinda lurked and popped in here and there... but here is what has been done.

And my first love and her Vert

I thought this was a neat shot to add (look at first pic of me and my son) and then this picture of me and my son taken 9-18-08

So there it is .. my build.. so far

What an Epic thread! Awesome!

I freaking love those wheels!!! The paint and smoked tails is amazing as well.

The only negative thing I have to say is... nice 4x4! When you get a chance to get a set of coilovers on there and drop that baby... it will be the complete package!!! What a great car!!!

That's the course of what.. 8-9 years? How many miles did you put on it in the process? I'm also curious about the top.. you really don't see many with anything but a black top. That tan cloth looks sweet.

From first day of purchase.. 1999 to 2008.. only put on 40K.. bought car with 78K in 1999.. currently has around 120K on chassis .. SR has about 6K since put in.. Coilovers are in the master plan.. and remember the JUN fender flares - didn't have enough time to get them on for ATL this weekend. I had to cut my losses and find a stopping point. This week has been hell.. waited for rims for 4 weeks (thanks ROTA - horrible customer service) and ended up getting them from Subie Dude (thanks go to THE SHOW ZONE) for making that happen in 4 days. Just got tires mounted yesterday. Took spacers off (have 25mm waiting in wings). Finished top today (hoping remaining wrinkles go away). Still have to put rear interior back in. On the road tomorrow morn at 6am. Oil filter relocator waits too.. I figure if i get the AWD from a R34, I'm all set to go muddin.. woo hoo..

How was putting the top on?

Would you recommend someone with basic skills to attempt it?

Looks great though!

All I can say about putting on a new top... well Hijacker said it best .. patience.. keep track of everything. hardest part to me was drilling out the rivets for the cable stays (broke 2 drill bits - broke 2nd one drillin out first ) Took a good 2 days of slow working (I'm old, so I move slow ). Follow Hijackers thread, measure everything from old top, have good pick to take out old staples (I think I took out like 200 or so), get air stapler (cause you have to put 200 or so back into hard material - Harbor Freight FTW..lol). I went with different color..to be.. well different. Got the top from http://www.topsonline.com/ They were awesome. Top fits well. Make sure everything is centered. But not too bad.

For the Honda haters out there.. here's a pic of the EG Civic that was in the background in the picture Vert with motor out[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Puts 360 to wheels on very consertive tune w/12 psi boost. Sorry, but I love all kinds of hot rods..lol.. but love the Vert the most of all of them.

Nah.. like the baller style.. actually have a Flowmaster 20 mounted shortly after downpipe.. then 2 7/8ths straight back.. sounds sweet and flows well.. basically stock putting 202 to the wheels. You'd be suprised at how good it sounds (all for $80.00). Coilovers are first, then maybe a Rocket bunny body kit. Next step for motor are bigger injectors, t28 disco, RAS, AEM fuel management, convert to speed density (still on fence on that), JUN style surge tank. I figure about 5 g's for that step. Maybe when kids (now have two) are moved out..lol

Nice.

I was fully expecting there to be 1000 pictures. Good job of consolidating.

I'm digging the tan top - I'd actually like to see more pictures of that.

Once it's slammed, it'll be perfect.

I really like 2nd pic and the last pic. See how small he was when you got the car. I can tell this car means a lot to you and your family. I also like flat black paint job.

Hey Dex, I didn't want to get busted for having too many pics..lol.. I literally have at least 300-400 between the Vert and Honda.. You can still check out my Zoints profile for a few extra ones. I honestly got tired of resizing all of them . I'll try to take some more of the top in good lighting for ya. I'm hoping Santa brings me some coilovers and suspension parts (RUCA's, adjustable tie rods, traction rods and subframe bushings (pineapples).

On a sad note, I didn't get to go to ATL (which happens Saturday 9/19). In my infinite stupidity I pushed too hard trying to do too much on the car and not take care of myself. The last screws for the headliner (by back window) did me and my back in. I now look forward to a weekend of muscle relaxers and pain meds. Yea.. tweaked back. Just goes to show that $150G's in back surgery and turning 41 (all 4 days of it) means.....limits. Ahh to be 20 again..lol.

I do want to thank everyone for the words of encouragement. To all the newbies on here. All of the information I needed to complete any task I did on the car was found on ..... NICO !! Just search or ask. And compliments to all my Vert Brothers and Sisters for making the Vert Forums the BEST forum on ANY website. And to AZHitman - for keeping the site up and running... and FREE. Looks like I have to buy my T-shirts online this year . Thanks again everyone. I will post any more changes as they come.

Thanks 94_240sx, I thought that everyone might enjoy seeing the differences. Who says the back seat is useless...hah! The paint is a bit more satin like (the clear has metal flake in it). I did keep it rough looking on purpose though (to hide some blems). I hoping to get a particular body kit over the next year and then do the paint job properly. I was given a bit of grief from my daughter for not including a picture of her (she came along in 2000).. so with further ado... Sami.. and my parents' 2009 Murano in background (have to at least include a Nissan in photo)[IMG][/IMG]

There my butt is off the hot seat..
