$200k Range $500k Range $1Mil Range

Notice the square footage and year built.

Compare them to where you live now. What kind of income would you need to buy a new house in your area?

I just thought this was a little interesting. Have fun

That house would be nice with a finished yard and new windows.

Otherwise, I suspect something like the above would be 190-230k depending on the part of town. Definitely not 900k!

EVERYTHING in california is expensive.

Retirement plan: Work in california, retire in a cheap state. pretty sure the median californian income is alot higher than most states.

*edit*http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/income/4person.htmlsays in 2007 california's median income is $70,712

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H...tatessays in 2006 that the median income is $54,358

You're likely to pay more than $25k in higher fuel, food, and housing costs while you work there. Ideally, you'd telecommute and live in Oregon.

working in a bigger city while living outside of it is the benefit. there's a HUGE pay difference just living 30mins-1hour away from it. saving that little bit of extra is mainly what I'm talking about

besides, working the outskirts of california isnt much pay. i'd have to at least commute 4 hours in order to work a great paying job in california and live in oregon.

i could be wrong, i have no experience outside of living in between sacramento and san francisco

Holy crap! Some of those prices are crazy! Here in town something like this, with this amount of land will probably be about half that prices.http://realestate.msn.com/slid...ex=12

This would be around 250-300k in the good parts of town. In little Russia, 100-125k and you must replace window's often.

*edit* Found one around here. 4br, 3ba, 2900sqft. 272,500. It'll sell for around 260 I bet.

I should drive around the new "rich" housing developments around the lakes and take pictures of some of those houses, then take pictures of houses towards the good parts of town for comparison purposes. Our housing market is bad and houses are selling cheap! 150k can buy a nice house. 300k can buy a fancy house. 5-600k will buy you a house people will drive by to look.

***More Topeka goodness***$169,9003 Bed, 2.5 Bath2,472 Sq. Ft.

$175,0005 Bed, 3 Bath2,880 Sq. Ft.

$465,0004 Bed, 3.5 Bath5,246 Sq. Ft.I've driven by this house in one of the nice new housing developments.

...And another in that same development$474,9005 Bed, 4.5 Bath5,220 Sq. Ft.

$875,0005 Bed, 6 Bath6,548 Sq. Ft.2 fireplaces, .84acres.

$899,0004 Bed, 6 Bath8,319 Sq. Ft.3 fireplaces, swimming pool.

here 275k will buy you a decent little 3 bedroom. 400k+ for anything "fancy" or with a view.

I just looked online, I'm not even gonna post pics, but I will say that the first 30 pages of listings were above 3 million.

Living in Scottsdale (Snobsdale, as I like to call it ) is nice, unless you are looking to buy a house. Then you might as well just bend over and stick a footlong in up your pooper.
