Well...It all started a few years back. My son kept talking about these "drift" cars and these cool little motors that put out all kinds of HP. To make a long story short, We decided to search the land for the perfect little car to play with. He kinda had his heart set on a 240SX. S13 would be nice, but the S14 would be better. We looked on the usual car "for sale" posts.

NOT really what we were looking for. I can turn wrenches, but don't really need a "body man".

We finally came across what we were lookin for. Body had a few dents and dings, but NO RUST. 96 S14!Kid was OK with it!!!!The next thing was to get everything working. Had to fix drivers window not working, all the back lighting not working, pictured here is the fender off. We had to access the hinges to adjust the passenger door. We got the drivers side OK without taking the fender off. The bolts were too tight. We also got the windshield wiper motor and tubing fixed. Adjusted trunk latch. About another 100 or so little things here and there. And finally...Everything is working! Now time to tear it apart. Actually Cam is not old enought to drive by himself yet. So we did a little driving around while we looked for a good motor.

***Hey everybody. I could not have even started to think about doing this without all the great info posted on this board! Right down to the replacement of light bulds in the dash. Your guys are awsome.***

Found the engine for the swap.A few little things here and there I was not too pleased with on the harness but overall "so far so good"The beast. SR20DET S14.

We started yesterday on removal, pulled the hood and seats. Cam is draining all the fluids.Yea I know, I tried to tell him, but he has to find out things on his own. Kinda reminds me of somebody. Hmmmmmm.

I will keep everybody posted as we go.Gord

Hot motor oil + bare chest = wearing a shirt next time.

Really cool to see a father/son project here in Nico.I grew up handing tools to my dad as he worked on his 260Z and M30. Once his knees gave out it was usually me underneath the thing.Lots of memories...

No kidding. My parents won't even buy me an air freshener, yet alone a s14 + sr20. Hell, I wouldn't even want the sr20...but still.

None the less, looks good!

Talk about jealous. Like others have said, I couldn't get my parents to buy me stuff for my 240 if I tried let alone a motor swap package. That's wild but very great for your son. Way to go putting your son to work too!

I would be afraid of giving my son that turbo power before he was ready...

I imagine this is more of an excuse for father to have a hot kid's car

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. He said earlier in the post he wasn't much of a 'body guy'... Well he might want to start getting into it because chances are his son is going to give her hell into a curb or such. Boost is to addictive for a damn good driver...yet alone a kid who wants to show off

Awesome project, you remind me of my dad. When I turned 16 my dad gave me his 240sx project he never started, bought a FSM and told me first thing I had to do was pull the engine. Needless to say I know my 240sx inside and out now. Also by having your son working on it hopefully we will take more care and realize if he ends up wrecking it he's going to end up fixing it.

Btw dad, don't listen to that d!ck Ali 556. He's just jealous of your 96 blacktop with his 95 autotragic KA.

Good luck on your guys' build and I hope it turns out great!

Oh one more thing, car fluids + no shirt = It's bad enough for me with a shirt on.
