so is it the one after the cat on the driver side? i do have the fsm but it does not specify. btw I bought the one in autozone that says right side before cat for 95$ cause thats what the guy told me was the correct one.

if thats not it can I use it on the left side, and would it work?

It's in the electrical or emissions diagnostic section.

I'd be very wary of 3rd party O2 sensors. Usually most use OEM from Joe (IoS - http://www.infinitpartsusa.com) or NTK from http://www.sparkplugs.com .

Side to side difference is usually in lead length. Always best replaced in pairs, but secondary are not as critical.

I would also suggest doing a search of previous posts. Several of us have had rather lengthy battles with dead O2 sensors.

Check out this link. http://replacement.car-stuff.c...e#top

That's where I purchased my 02 Sensor last year and I haven't had any issues with it.

With 15 choices, it's a pretty sure bet that at least 14 are OEM rejects or non-OEM supplier manufactured.

Like shocks, O2 sensors fail progressively. The sensors get sluggish and switch slower and slower and slower. Also the O2 may take 5-10 minutes to even start switching after a cold crank or a warm crank.

The ecu can accomodiate about 3 switches [lean rich flip flops] per second but by 30k the O2 is down to once per second and keeps declining until NOTHING or it locks the system up rich ..........[no signal to tell ecu to go lean].

Without O2 function the ecu will usual cruise 5-10% rich and may cost up to 2 MPG.

Waiting until the MIL light comes on has probably already COST you significant gasoline.

Makes sense my fellow engineer but I'm sorry, I don't plan on changing out any of my O2 sensors until I see the light come on. I've changed one out on my own, and the second one that went out, I made the gas station pay for it. I filled up with some bad gas (Citgo) when I was in college and 30 minutes later, my check engine light was on. Found out it was the o2 sensor. They didn't want to pay for it at first, but once my lawyer (great friend of mine ) wrote them a letter, I received a check a week later.

Maxnix, I purchased the first one on that page and haven't had any issues. I and other people on this board have used non OEM parts that hold up. Sometimes I read your posts and just shake my head. You are the same person who stated that you should empty all of your cash savings to pay for cars cash, which is border line stupid. You act like all OEM products are made perfect each time. There is something known as a "recall" on parts...

They are made to a higher standard. Why you get 15 choices when at most only one is up to OEM. NTK is a known quality provider.

At least all the others (if not all) are seconds, defects, or substandard 3rd party imitations. How do you know which one was which?

For a $12K engine, $50 or even $80 is a paltry sum for functioning part of known quality.

To paraphrase Harry Callahan, "Do you feel lucky, punk? Do you?"

Bad fortune is what happens to the ill-prepared a little more frequently. All good engineers know this.
