It seems cars both new or used aren't moving as quickly nowadays unless you are selling a 3/4 cylinder beater that supposedly gets 35+ miles.

Lets see what niconauts are saying.

I have the same problem. I've even had a few people interested that call me just before they are supposed to come look at and say they couldn't come up with the money. I'm only asking 3k. At this point I'm very motivated cause I've had it for sale for months now.

I use craigslist whenever I'm trying to sell a car. The first thing I put in the ad is:

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE AD BEFORE RESPONDING!!!SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY!!!

That almost always weeds out the flaky people and phone calls that ask about the same stuff that is already in the ad. It also seems to attract the real buyers that are willing to show up with cash in hand.

I also make sure to put as much information as possible without making it too much to read.

Never list more of what's wrong with the car than what's right with the car. A lot of times a description of a problem can sound a lot worse than actually seeing it in personso be brief [but honest] when you describe a problem.

Try not to sound like a car salesman on the phone. I can't stand when I call somebody about the car and they keep repeating something stupid that they've added on the car like "Hey man you're gonna love those 22 inch chromies" because you never know if the buyer is planning to take that garbage off or leave it on.

Just my 0.02 When I'm trying to sell a car on CL, I usually have it gone within a week.

Thanks for your posts guys. I tried to sell the S2k to get a newer 350Z. Not one call about it. Granted MN is not the best place for a convertible.

Then I tried to sell the Ep3 to get a Cobalt XFE (God knows why I wanted that).

I guess I am happy I still have both of these. I wish the MPG of the EP3 was slightly better. I am itching to see scangauge tell me I got 40mpg, not gonna happen with the EP3 regardless of how much hypermiling I do.

I was talking about avg mpg. Not instant Managed 35.1mpg on the last tank. It's pretty fun to play the mpg game.

My hypothesis is that, with an Cobalt XFE, corolla 5spd, Civic 5spd, saturns 40mpg avg. mixed city/hwy driving is very achievable. But that's a discussion for a different forum.

Sorry to the guy that I'm buying my 240 from if he's on here. It's just in fun!

This 240 I'm buying comes with an aftermarket head unit, and when I first called the guy he must have told me about it 5 times in 10 minutes. Wasn't exactly the selling point of the car for me, but sure, it's cool.

I like the head unit, but if I didn't, I could always sell it. So meh, tell 'em about it a time or two. They can factor in how much money they'll make off selling it.

I'd keep your ep with those #'s! I mean its an si and putting out 35 mpg is awesome. Its not worth buying a base model car to get 5 more mpg. I'm getting about 28-32 mixed in my gsr. It depends how much ethanol I get in each batch . 'Cause now it contains up to 10% of the stupid stuff

I agree. But that 35.1mpg is with a lot of attention and careful driving. Ep3 really likes to stay in the 26-27 range from what I can tell from scangauge and my previous experience with it between tank fillups.

Are you driving cautiously to get the 28-32 mixed mpg?

My Nissan dealer was desperate when I got the Versa... I got Invoice -$1000 & Free window tinting..

I saved so much on the initial purchase I put on a 100k warranty.

I overheard the sales manager on the phone telling them to put the free tinting under another sale because "We got beat up on this deal"

Not really cautiously, but not exactly flooring it all the time either, haha. When i'm working during the week I mostly drive with the windows up, ac on and only rev it to 4K between shifts and just relax between work and home but if its on the weekend just cruising around I normally have the windows down and tend to floor it more. I've never done a "Grandpa Style" tank as I like to call it in this car yet... I actually need to try it after i do my tune up. Do you have to run premium in your ep? I can't remember if those require it or not.

No Ep3 can run on 87, that what I do. I hear it runs better on 91 however. I didn't see much difference.

I do try to accelerate slowly from stop and drive speed limit on the highway with occasional coast in idle (downhill). I try to up shift at 3k rpm. By doing grandpa driving I got 40mpg once. Today I did some regular in town driving, this tank's avg came down to 30.1mpg.

I've had my '94 civic for sale for a while now... I've had about a bajillion flakers though... does that count? It's kind of f**king annoying, really.
