I'm in the process of ordering a Thule roof rack right now. It consists of the 400xt foot pack with the 2183 fit kit and the LB50 bars. Essentially, it's only the fit kit that changes from one car model to another. Yakima also sells a kit for the Versa, but I prefer the flatter bars of the Thule to the round Yakima bars.

I'm new to the forum but have enjoyed reading the posts ever since I bought my Versa in January.

I don't know if others have had a problem with the Thule 2183 fit kit for their Versa, but I was unable to get the rear roof rack attached satisfactorily after following the Thule instructions. The rack could be pulled off the car after pushing/pulling on it with a forward/backward motion. I ended up installing the Thule 42" Top-Track (metal track permanently attached to the roof) with the Tracker II feet and TK1 base and load bars. As I mentioned the Top Track is a permanent installation but has the advantage of push button on/off with the Tracker II feet and the additional advantage of a wider spread between bars (24-1/2" with the 2183 FitKit, I've set mine at 34"--it is adjustable). Pictures are available if anyone is interested.

used the Thule fit kit for the Versa and had no trouble at all except for the initially ratcheting of the tightners. Nothing is going to budge that sucker now. My daughter thinks the bike racks make the car look better too!

I got a great deal. I bought the Thule bars and foot packs on Craigslist for $50 bucks. The one I bought new was the fit kit through Amazon.com for $58.98 way cheaper then through Thule.com. I saved quite a bit. The foot packs are a bit worn but considering these racks run close $300 bucks, I am very happy.

1. the fit kit.

2. The instructions are very easy to follow and you better read them and follow them correctly because the rack have to be fitted at particular measurements. Some have complaind Thule racks don't fit right especially the ones at the back, but I found the final fit to be perfect as you will soon see.

3. Here is a shot of my foot pack and the locks. Like I said before I got a great deal considering how much these racks go for new.

4. It took me about 30 minutes mounting the racks. I strongly recommend getting another person to make the installation go faster.

5. Here is a shot of the fit of the clamps and the clearance of the doors.

6. Here is shot of the fit of the rear footpack which many have complained it doesn't fit right. If you follow the instructions correctly your fit wil be as good or better then mine.

Here is another shot of the footpack in question.

and this one with the door shut.

7. Here are some profile shots of the front footpack. One without the lock cover and the other with it.

8. This last shot is of the surfboard mounts, which are going to come in handy next summer.
