Whats up peeps, I've been a member for a while now but have never really whored out the whip. I bought a salvaged title 89 coupe off of a friend. It crushed the passenger fender and dented in the passenger quarter panel, nothing major at all. Other than the body damage and faded red paint the car is in excellent shape. I was extremely surprised when i couldn't find any rust. I bought the car so i could do my senior project at my school about 5 years ago. I pulled out the ka and threw in a rb20. This was my first real car, I had a crx that was fun to drive but it was really a big piece of crap. I didnt really do anything to the car besides cheap wheels fmic and exhaust, It was a huge sleeper. I drove the car for about 5 months until I blew the head gasket. So i pulled the engine back out and started building that little guy up, and this is what i came up with

misc:Nismo rad capNismo oil cappowder coated the valve and timing coversBrand new optima battery Mounted in trunk with aluminum battery tray with 2 gauge wire and fuse distribution block.Alpine type rear deck speakersAlpine stereo unitthe body has about 90,000 miles on ithas a working digital speedometer with the tach calibrated to the engineHas about 60,000 total on the engine and 500 miles since ive added everything above.power everything

When I decided to freshen up the engine I went ahead a fix a bunch of things that just worked for the time but need to be changed. I started with the engine harness i paid unstable hybrids to do and they made a mess. I took apart the harness fixed the mess then heat shrinked every loom and then wrap part of the harness in some heat material to keep the wires cooler. I didnt have power steering after i did the swap so i went to the local earls dealer and stocked up.

Overall I have replaced almost everything on the suspension and engine. I have taken all the nessecary steps into making a rb a good realiable daily driver. The only thing i need to finish on the car is the body, interior, and some more electronics.

I plan on purchasing a nistune package, 750cc injectors, z32 or q45 maf, and some cam gears. If you look at my signature you can find a link to my pictures.

Yea it runs but with some of the parts im getting a lot more air into the engine and on a stock tune it has its little idle problems. Once i get some more money together and get a good tune it will all be square....I HOPE....

http://www.indycarz.comits the local indiana car forum. Kevin i've heard is a good guy, i've never dealt w/ him personally. I met him last year at ITB, but that was it. I was kinda curious as well, i'm looking to maybe put a 'professional' tune on my car...was looking for someone local. You should come to the NICO meet i'm trying to setup and meet up w/ some of us. There is a thread on indycarz and in here in the central reigon section. Should be a beast for sure! Good to see there will be a few nice high HP nissans out this year!

I am also looking for someone to 'tune' my RB. I was considering George or Kevin, but not sure. Going with NisTune as well. I want to find somebody who is good at tuning Nissan's (preferably RB's) and an accurate dyno with repeatable / consistent results.

Are there more people with RB's in Indy? I only know of another, but it is an R33 GT-R that mostly stays in Chicago. :-\

I was at ITB with the VMS guys last year - Took my S13 Vert.

Ryan, you're making your tuning problem bigger than it is, hehe. Just do it!

did you get that gate i sent you?

Sounds like we need to setup some kind of local tuning day somewhere close.

I would love to find someonce close that could tune rbs. Ive been reading a bunch on here about tuning and there are tons of people that have nice rbs and tuned it themselves. So i was thinking about letting my buddy tune ane then compare to others tune and tweak from there. He has a hot rod shop with a dyno and expierence tuning v8. he should be able to get my mine close since tuning is a basic concept on all engines.

Yup. I sent you a message after I got it on (a day after receiving it).

Whats your cooling problem?

CoolwhipDo you have or can make another elbow like you have on the turbo in your avatar pic. That looks like a hks manifold like i have and with that elbow it would make running my pipe a little bit easier when i re do some things.

I need to just make a thread about it. Not sure if my stock S14 rad is too small, or if I need better fans, or maybe even some ducting between FMIC and rad. My temps with both fans on are around 82-85*c.

There are a few dynos in town, i think if I was to trust anyone RIGHT NOW it would be performance driven...i'm going to Modified Auto Design on the 14th for a dyno day and to talk to their tuners. Supposibly, they are a very reputable imort shop here in indy. I'm trying to set up a meet either the 21st or the 28th of june. The first NICO meet we had this year was horrible, its time for a good one! I am on AIM, Largekid03, and i'm only aware of 2 other RBs in town. A RB20 in bloomington?? and a RB25 in shelbyville.

I would say start with getting a better rad. first but depending on what type of fans you have id say it is a mixture of it all.

LargeKid where is Modified auto design? I'd also be interested into talking to them to see if they seem to know what they are doing
