A forum member at Motive has obtained Infiniti's 2009 ordering guide, and with it comes (supposed) word that the 2009 G-series sedan will be upgraded with the 3.7-liter VQ37VHR V6. Exact output has yet to be confirmed, but the document rates the 3.7-liter V6 at 320+ hp, with power sent to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The model and package list (posted after the jump) goes on to say that the 2009 Infiniti G37 will include four-piston front brakes equipped with 14-inch rotors, five-spoke 18-inch wheels, re-designed side view mirrors and the Scratch Shield paint found on the new FX line of CUVs. Two new exterior colors will also be made available: Moonlight White and Sahara Sandstone.

We've got a call in to Nissan's PR people to confirm the information. Man,

Infiniti doesn't make it easier to pick. I was thinking for the last month or so to get a 350 or a first gen coupe next year and keep my G for a DD.

But the self healing paint 3.7l engine and the 7 gear would make me trade mine next year sometimes when I see how the new ones doing.

Hey Bob thanks for the info.

Just realized the e brake will be hand pulled too. More way to play with the car winter time.

Found the source of the article. They claim is is a done deal. Here is a pic of the interior.

It looks exactally like my G. Same leather, same wood, except the little seat heater buttons are different. (below the transmission shifter)

Also, they are speculating here with 7AT FX35, rpm is at 1960@60mph. Simple calculation gives me around 2600rpm at 80mph. The currently 5AT is around 3300rpm at 80mph.

The same guy posted that the 2010 M would be a M37 and an M50And that the coupe will get the 7AT in 09.

That's all there is. They are calling this a done deal for the G37 sedan.

Is it just my eye or the center console is in a different angle then the 07? It looks like it tilted more to the front.

My G does not have one so I assume you are correct. My other slushbox Nissan has one with auto tho.

The G37 coupe is supposed to be upgraded to 7sp auto from what I hear as well. I considered holding off to get the '09 model but I'm happy with what I have.

Any word in there on improved driveability with the 6MT?

The 7AT is a welcome change for those who don't feel the need for a clutch.

One thing that hasn't been clear to me is how much stronger the 3.7 feels than the 3.5. The official specs suggest the only gain is at the top end.

I think it will have a much faster 0-60 and the 1/4 mile..

The 7 speeds will make each gear a little shorter so that would really make a difference in the 1/4 mile.

I would guess that if Jeffs car can do it in 13.7 that this new car will be able to do it in 13.0

2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan rumored to be on the way

Posted Yesterday 02:19 PM by Nate Martinez Category: Auto News, Japan, Infiniti

Scudding around the net recently have been unconfirmed reports that Infiniti is prepping a G37 sedan that would replace its present G35 offering.

If true, the 2009 Infiniti G37 sedan, like the G37 Coupe, will employ Nissan's VQ37VHR engine mated to either a seven speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. The engine is speculated to produce upwards of 320 horsepower. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet by Infiniti, but the move has long been speculated about and seems like a no-brainer considering the G coupe already has the 3.7-liter mill.

Many of the features found on the new sedan will likely be shared with its current G37 Coupe sibling. Available 14-inch Akebono brakes, an upgraded suspension setup, and a four-wheel active steering system will reportedly find their way onto sedans shod with the sport package. Like its European market version, shown above, that is slated to go on sale this fall, the U.S. spec G37 will be available in base, Journey, all-wheel drive, and sport versions.

According to the leaked ordering guide delivered to dealers, two new exterior colors, Moonlight White and Sahara Sandstone, are scheduled to appear on the 2009 sedan.

Over the next five years, Nissan and its Infiniti luxury brand are planning to release 60 new vehicles to world markets. Most recently, Nissan has green-lighted production of a G37-based hard top convertible due out next spring.

Somebody want to start a poll thread to see who the first (current) member to show up with an 09 37 sedan is? I see about 4 so far in this thread that may not be able to escape the new car bug.

A G50 would be hawt. If they keep the same sexy look of the sedan, maybe make it a little more aggressive. I would like to see that car with a 7speed or 8 speed auto.

0-60 times in the 4.5-4.7 and a 12.5 1/4 mile

and maybe 30 mpg out of a V8 ... Hey if they can get a V6 to run 1900 rpms at 60 you can get a V8 to do it at 1500.

That would actually be a smart move from Infiniti given the current climate. They already sell a 2.5 version in Japan.

The majority of 3 series sales are 325i's, same with Lexus and the IS250. Infiniti has nothing.

I'm up for a G20 or G25. Maybe on a platform smaller than the current G. So maybe a new letter.

The car I've been saying needs to be made for quite some time:--RWD--2.5-liter V6; maybe a 2.2-liter or so 4 as a base engine--3,000 pound curb weight--base price around $25,000
