I posted this elsewhere but I thought I'd make a new thread for some current feedback and for future searchers.

I simply cut the rear muffler off and replaced with a flexible exhaust pipe and two straight sections of pipe with new tips. I've got about $50 invested and 3 hours. I would expect an exhaust shop would do it for $150 total. FYI stock muffler weighs 27 lbs.

I am really happy with the results-both looks and sound. Being able to hear the engine reminds you of how often it changes RPM-for the first three drives I thought my transmission was failing!!

Yes I did do it myself. Its real easy but also ANY exhaust shop could do it as well.

My wife is the measure of "car loudness" and she doesn't object to the Q45. She does object to my 91 Mustang 5.0 with headers, no cats and flowmasters- she hates that-and me (when I get on it).

Whoo! That Mustang must sound real nice

Where would you suggest looking for those kinds of pipes? An Exhaust shop?

Thanks for the info

That is one clean, mean, mustang machine!

EDIT: Which kinds of pipes sizes and whatnot did you use? And for the flexible pipes, were you on this page http://www.partsamerica.com/Pr...=3088

Yep, thats the stuff, 1 3/4" pipe, two flexible peices and then about 24" of straight pipe 1 3/4" pipe.

Tips came from Advance as well, all this stuff is on their shelf-or any other parts store.

I'm a fan of those tips you put on. The stock ones are too recessed and small.

Where else did you post it? Did you have pics or any eye candy there?

Sounds GREAT man. I'm definitely going to do this.

I have a feeling my mrs. won't be as tolerant as yours. What are the odds you'd grab another video of cabin sound while normal driving?
