ok guys, a few months back my rear bumper got in a nasty fight with an electric pole and turned my emaculate bumper into this...
so now that its a little warmer here in chicago, i wanted to get this thing repaired. me and my dad decided to take it off to observe the damage done to the rear reinforcement and the results were not pretty.
so as we looked on in disbelief on the damage i had a great idea on how to remove the rather large dent in the reinforcement..(see below)
This pic shows where the damage was and how much it pulled out. overall it came out about 2 1/2 inches just from slowly bending it forward while tied to a tree
as for the bent bumper cover we decided, sice it is plastic, to just heat it and bend it back to its normal place, all we did was boil a pot of water and pour it on the cover to make it soft and then clamp and mold it till it looked almost perfect.
Before
After!!
Overall a great improvement, my tails are back to flush with the rear of my body and the bumper has so much less of a dent im astonished at the results myself. any questions feel free to ask.
oh and the total cost of this project was about 40$ for the jb weld for the tail bolts that broke loose and the new piece of foam for the bumper. Better than paying almost 400$ for brand new stuff from the dealer and 200$ from a junkyard for everything!!
