LET"S NOT SHOUT IN POST SUBJECTS!

Thank you.

I agree, but the powers that be see it differently. Ultimately it is a post count issue as that is what is sold to advertisers which makes all of this possible. But if 10% are "You've got mail!" and "How's it hanging in Philly?" posts, how dysfunctional does the board become and how disaffected the membership? The quality of informative posts is not what it was a few years ago with few exceptions. Heath (1990Q45), Dennis (Q45tech), Greg (AZHitman) and Keith(TexasOil) are about all I can recall from those days. You can look at join dates and see who came from the old Yahoo boards in 2002.

One only has to check the Q45 forums against many of the others on here to see how much better teh Q45 ones are. And NICO is much better than most other car marque sites by far.

I was slumming the other day when I read a post by Falk (now banished for imprudent posts) in a Far Away Q45 forum commented his present forum was a font of technical expertise. I nearly drowned in the coffee that poured from my nose.

I agree that PMs would be handy.

PM is the worst obtrusive technology ever invented, it ranks right up their with ipods, loud stereos, big wheels, and cellphone on the ear

I still burn coal to power my computer.

PMS is the bane of every "real man's" existence. I recommend a handful of Midol and a few glasses of wine.

AFAIK, it's not about post counts, bandwidths or any of the other "reasons" I've heard over the years.

The long and short is about keeping the "tech talk" and trouble-shooting process on the boards.

PM becomes less "needed" if members have email addresses or AIM/chat scree names visible in their profiles.

I think that most of the technical talk gravitates to the boards anyway (why are we here after all?) as the more minds the better.

And if email is enabled, what is accomplished by disabling personal messaging?

No one has ever explained that contradiction.

36.8% of electricity in Georgia is generated by burning coal, I forgot about the 2003-2005 major conversion to natural gas which reduced coal from 60% to 36.8%.

No wonder our natural gas prices have increased. Shows you must check your facts even when making a complex joke.

Far from a contradiction, and I've explained it numerous times.

It's simply a matter of effort - PM alerts are received via email. Then one must go from the email, into the PM inbox, and deal with the message therein. Replying simply generates yet another email, to the recipient, who must then enter the PM system and deal with their message as well.

Simply stated, email requires less clicks, and less clicks means less Spotted Owls must be driven from their natural habitats.

I've seen (on other boards) a "simple question" turn into a long winded technical discussion.

NICO demonstrates it's control (insert evil laugh)

An email exchange can more easily be copied/paste into a thread to recap if an "email discussion" were to occur and would benefit the group. Reconstructing from a string of PM's would be more difficult.

And for those that don't "know", Greg's never been a fan of the idea ... does that help clear things up

Important to keep YOUR MIND SET as 1985-1995 or you will overreach those of the orginal engineers who designed and built the Q.

For those with Cimas you can expand the time horizion to 1995-2001.

Remember cars are totally designed 3 years before the first one is built.

If only they had done so and so ......but they didn't.................doesn't help you maintain repair or keep the vehicle on the road.

Luddite is relative to the time frame.

You totally remind me of Data on Star Trek. So literal. It's frickin hilarious. The only other guy that makes me laugh out loud is Hatian King. I'm not trying to be insulting one bit, I just felt some need to express this. I swear you have a Q45 computer up there. Can you teach me how to add Google to my mind? That would be SO awesome!
